Can't Access FatCow - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

For what it's worth, i've been a Fatcow customer for over ten years and have generally been very satisfied. They are usually been prompt in responding to problems and/or answering questions. And no, I don't work for them. :-)

all websites including FATCOW.COM are down!

Mike Colucci · 11 January 2014 - 15:32
United States · CenturyLink

@noah.. That isn't really true, there are tons of hosting companies not owned by them. Just opened an account at arvixe. This is not acceptable, too many times and for too long. Short of the building being leveled, we can restore services in less than an hour; disaster planning is essential.

Noah Moreland · 11 January 2014 - 15:11

Rachel Peterson · 15 May 2013 - 11:34

My website scored a 49 on google site speed test because of fatcow's slow server response time. Old score was 89 and nothing has changed on my site so I know for a fact this is Fatcow's problem. Their tech support idiot told me there's no problem on their end. Whatever, Fatcow... I'm so done with this joke of a hosting company. Moving everything to Dreamhost asap. FATCOW SUCKS! Fatcow sucks. I'm going to move my site to Page.ly, probably before my pre-paid time with Fatcow is up. I have about 15 more months prepaid with fatcow, but is it worth losing visitors? I'm trying to get a business going here, and they're down far too often. For a simple WordPress site, there's no excuse for this sh!t.

Drake Tucker · 13 March 2013 - 08:47

fatcow seems to be down for me since 9am this morning. Can't load "draketucker.com", "ethanseagren.com", or Fatcow itself. Tested and it is only those sites. on multiple browsers.

Bob McCord · 12 November 2012 - 14:10
United States · Time Warner Cable

This is the most ridiculous thing i have ever seen. I am an I.T. Guy. For them to tell me that their servers are down is an epic fail. ALL OF THEM? are you F'ing serious? So the backup servers are down too? Did the cow eat the Damned things? Their main page is up, I hope to the Big Man Above that they restore everything on all 4 of my websites there or they may be the "skinny cow". I had a previous issue with them 2 weeks ago where one of my WP sites just disappeared...I contacted tech support and they asked me where MY back up of the website was?!!? LOL...On your freaking server I said...God bless US all for this kind of stupid crap...

Max Elliott · 12 November 2012 - 14:09

My site is back up and so is email. I've been with them for more almost 2 years and this is the second time it's happened. The only frustrating thing is email; my client directory is on a completely separate ISP which I was able to access.

Barry S. Goldberg · 12 November 2012 - 14:08

I think the problem may be fixed but it will take a while to percolate out to everybody. I just randomly got a few e-mails from three hours ago, but still can't access my websites (even though this site says they are all up and running).

Charles Burns · 12 November 2012 - 13:45

they're website is up, but anythign hosted by them is still down. kind of annoying... that their site is working well enough to buy a new web hosting package, but not well enough for me to access any of my existing sites, or webmail. also, ive been told by a fatcow tech support rep that any emails sent to us during the outage are most likely going to be lost!

Just Dahl · 12 November 2012 - 13:32

Its all a matter of how fast they can get back up! I've had FatCow with multiple domains and features for several years. They've been awesome! But that could all go to hell if they can't get up in a hurry.
