Can't Access Huffington Post - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Try alternative urls such as

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

The changes to HP have made it unbearable. I have nothing but negative experience every time, every day. Will be abandoning for better, i.e., no slow, blank, click bate content, bad journalism, bad grammar, bad spelling, basically you have jumped the shark. Too bad, I have enjoyed your site for years, and I just can't stand it anymore. Plus, there is more going on in the world than the disgrace for a human being whose name I will not say.

Slow loading and hangs, regardless of browser. This has been getting steadily worse over the past few weeks. I will no longer even try. They must have the same people in charge web services as they do in editing. It's just gotten too heavy with ads, autoplay vids, links and duplicate stories. It's too junky. Won't be back

Huffington Post is a mess. It's the ONLY website that keeps on freezing on our 3 computers. Two computers run Windows7 and the other one runs Windows 8.1. We have tried all so called "fixes" but nothing helps. I've taken Huffpost out of my favorites. It's not worth the hassle.

Joseph Dorsey · 29 March 2014 - 19:24

Thank goodness I'm not the only one. I don't bother with the aol links anymore, if I notice something interesting I Google it and find another site. I thought it was aol trying to drum up business for its computer speed up services. Both my laptop and a library computer are the same.

Greg Ransone · 20 March 2014 - 16:33

The website is my opinion is way to demanding and with long running script errors on almost every page, I would hope that their web dept would understand how detrimental it is and how the ROI on the jamm packed pages with all the links and ads fail to accomplish what should be their #1 goal... Information Exchange... very unfortunate... I have limited amount of time to grab my information and I like the huff post but just can't go there as it is a waste on my (and by the looks of it here many others) time. As my friend always likes to chime in "too Bad so Sad"

Dee Colonese · 19 March 2014 - 21:31

It is my opinion that HP does not care about its members. I never see an update on when or if HP will be up and running again. I sent them a message weeks ago, never got a reply. I think HP blogging site is gone for good.

Hasn't been loading on my laptop. Keeps freezing in the rare instance it does load and then I get a message saying Huffington Post has been lost asking if I want to recover the page which is pointless because it only happens again. Huff Post's new comment format is BUSTED!! Can't make a comment, fave, load new or old comments anymore. Keep getting message that something is wrong with the server and to try again. Everything is stuck. Can't click on anything. Comment section on AOL stories is working fine though. Huff Post has to know based on the low number of comments that something is very wrong with their new format system. Get a clue, Huff Post, and fix this mess!

12.07.13- Days of not being able to access HP from either my lt or mobile. Wondered last night if they have gone full force against voices of reason as I have been having even positive post and comments in the entertainment section be deleted before going to mods or being posted. It's about 3 or 5 days now. Just had my hubby try from his computer and he too can't get in. He has NEVER posted there so I know it's not me/personal. Looks like "we" have a potential "pay back" from a good geek on our side after HP gave so much cp to the traols over Obamacare and the website problems. I think I will keep this in my head as the possibility makes me smile.

Jim Thomas · 7 December 2013 - 07:06

Keep getting audio that starts on it's own. You click out of a page and then next thing you know you are hearing audio from the page you have already left, evern when you never activated a video. There is no way to then turn off the audio without turn the audio completely down. You have to click out of the site completely. I resent web sites that "take control" of my computer in this way.
