Can't Access ShareBuilder - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

I had the same problem in Chrome, and was able to fix it similarly to Stuart below. I went into Settings->Privacy->Content Settings->Cookies->All Cookies and Site Data, then type sharebuilder in the box. Delete everything with sharebuilder in the name by clicking the x on the far right as you hover over the row. After that I was able to log in successfully in Chrome.

not able to log in, keeps sending me a sign in page...

Stuart Cracraft · 11 May 2014 - 10:34
United States · Cox Communications · Safari 7.0.3 on Macintosh

I used Firefox and it worked. I went back out to Safari and cleared the specific data under Safari/Preferences/Cookies and Website Data/Cookies and Local Storage and retried and it worked. There was an outage last night. Reattempts to connect failed after the initial failure. The above scenario can be tried, varying based on your own browser. Don't clear all cookies and all data as your browser's memory for everything you do is important. Instead, just clear it for sharebuilder and retry - keep a few browsers around to try out when things like this happen but remember how to clear specific sites cookies/data rather than en masse.

@Ken Cook do you have the sharebuilder app? I have been able to gain access with the sharebuilder app on my iPhone, just checked and still have access. It took me about an hour of me just pressing log in over and over again, gave me a lost transmission message for an hour before they let me through.

I'm also using LTE not wifi if that makes a difference.

Andy Boonjindasup · 25 March 2014 - 09:28

Yes this is a bunch of crap! I have noticed too that since Capital One is now involved with Sharebuilder.com it has gone downhill. Have to look for a different place to invest, if this keeps up!

Lulu Scoobs · 25 March 2014 - 08:37

Sharebuilder is going down hill since its has been acquired by capital one. start moving out all the investment to another broker.

Brian Letendre · 25 March 2014 - 08:24
United States · Time Warner Cable

This is getting ridiculous! Looks like its time to find another online brokerage site because Share-builder has these problems all too often. Especially every time I am wanting to buy on a dip in price...

Jo Ann Zimmerman · 25 March 2014 - 08:12

Jeannette Evert · 5 February 2014 - 22:21

I can't log on to the Sharebuilder part of our CapitalOne account. Wish they would at least include a genuine 24 hour phone number in their contact information so one can verify it is not just their information which is unavailable.

Janice Paddock · 19 December 2013 - 14:34

Tracy Linda Fulford · 16 December 2013 - 08:55
United States · Comcast Cable

there is an endless loop saying my browser settings are incorrect as many have stated. Very upsetting when your money disappears like this! Bad enough when you loose it to the market! Sharebuilder has passed through too many hands lately. Does everyone trust them?

Christopher Taylor · 13 December 2013 - 11:41

Install Google Chrome and you will be on in a few minutes.

Tracy Folz · 11 December 2013 - 18:31

Christopher Taylor · 11 December 2013 - 14:45

Just chatted with a Sharebuilder rep. She stated they are having issues with IE 11 and to use Chrome, Firefox or an earlier version of IE. No timeframe on the fix. Installing Chrome right now. Hope it works.

Nora Sheffield · 8 December 2013 - 19:28

well I'm getting the same sign on problem with the cookies and java message. Nothing works. I'd really like to get on and check about buying a stock.

Jennie Olson Carothers · 7 December 2013 - 09:29

still can't access after doing all the changes they requested

Harold Workman · 4 December 2013 - 11:20
United States · AT&T U-verse

Still experiencing this annoying problem of not being able to access Sharebuilder.com. This is the only site out of many that I am unable to access. Your Cookie and Java Script message is creating the problem. When can we expect a fix and once again be able to get reliable access? IT personnel should be made aware of this problem immediately. Please advise.
