Can't Access Heart Internet - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

Seems to be an element of luck getting in. However I did access one mailbox to see a test mail I sent a few minutes ago there, but earlier ones not - probably down to server retry intervals. I do love these modern spinning 'loading' cursors, so much more theraputic than the old egg-timers of yesteryear. I could watch them all day....

whoo ho. Just managed to get in and open up a ftp directory. It was very sluggish.

Hopefully you can now too.

I can't even see what domains we are looking after, let alone passwords to try and log in to webmail. Some customers no proper email since yesterday afternoon, and no way to contact Heart. Apart from repeatedly trying to reload the page, what other options are there?

Jenny Prentice · 11 February 2016 - 12:47

ooh they aren't asleep. Finally they have put up a message

Due to a high influx of requests, unfortunately our customer platform is experiencing issues. Our system administration team is working on getting this resolved as we speak. Please do not attempt to repeatedly reload this page.

@Rich Starkie: We DO run our own backups from heart but stored on our site, of course that was yesterday.. Been a long time since I restored it to the vps though - in fact not since I coded the backup script... So far notice some corrupt mysql tables, but maybe. (hopefully) not too much of a problem. Contact me if you want info on the script for backups :)

I pay quite a bit compared to other hosting companies, and tbh lately it seems to have gone way downhill.. I also noticed they're using 'trustpilot' (who I'd NEVER trust) to drum up business - usually a sign that a company is in trouble in my opinion.

Guess I'm gonna be looking to see what else is on offer elsewhere - daunting task migrating everything!

Rich Starkie · 10 February 2016 - 15:32
· · Chrome 48.0 on Mac

@steve - stuff may be coming back up but how much will be knackered ?? and agreed some serious questions need to be asked like "What happened to the power backups?" "Dont you have DDOS protection from the likes of an ARBOUR device onsite?" "If an engineer powered off a hall (not saying that they did of course) how could they have acess to the master switches - they should be in an extra SECURE ENVIRONMENT"

Boatworld UK · 10 February 2016 - 15:31
· · Chrome 48.0 on Windows

Any one suggest a better provider, twice this week we have been left high and dry

Steve Time · 10 February 2016 - 15:22

Systems coming back online, but difficult to see how all failsafes failed, generators etc. Errors noted in dmesg with orphaned inodes after vps came back online. What's up - heartinternet was VERY reliable until recently?

WebHostingStatus states the following:

Power outage

Wed, 10 Feb 2016 15:05:44 +0000
We suffered a brief interruption in power during works in one of our data centre halls. This has now been restored and all servers are coming back online. We will provide further updates as work progresses every 20 minutes

Severe network outage

Wed, 10 Feb 2016 14:28:17 +0000
We are currently experiencing a large distributed denial of service (DDOS) attack against our network. This is resulting in loss of connectivity to a wide range of our services. Network engineers are aware and are working to restore normal connectivity as soon as possible
