Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

AWeber has worked well for me for five years. You can bet there are a lot of worried people there right now, being hauled back to sleep under their desks tonight. Don't hassle them. DDOS attacks can hit anyone. I've just lost a whole Saturday promotion. (Loss: $1000+.) But it's hurting AWeber more than it does me.

Edit: If it's any consolation, folks, is down right now as well. Somebody out there just doesn't like autoresponders, it seems.

Still out on the West Coast. What I'm particularly unsatisfied with is that they've had several service disruptions over the last several months, they never call and then, when I call to speak with someone, they ask me a whole bunch of questions before they say, 'yes, we're having a problem with our system - it should be up soon' Why don't they let me know first!? I have to waste my time to call them, answer a lot of questions only to be told the obvious 'our system is down'. How does mailchimp compare with getresponse? I'm about ready to jump ship...

I have an account with both Aweber and Getresponse. Getresponse let's you import subscribers WITHOUT reconfirmation so I suggest setting up an account there so you can mail in the meantime and then keep it as backup. I do think it is interesting though that Getresponse, even while they were attacked and went down, only took about 45 min to get back up and have been fine since. Aweber stays down for days...

We are just about to start usjng AWeber and we probably still will. In businesss since 1998, someone who's mailing list was canceled is probably just getting revenge or maybe this is practice for a much larger DDoS against another target. I sure hope they find who is doing this to them. Could be PayPal or Amazon or even Facebook as the next target.

Why are people asking for 6 months free of service?? it has not been down for 6 months. Asking for that is stealing... all i want is a credit too my account for the time its been down that's all. None of us should have too pay for down time. It was down earlier this week.. i asked for a credit for the couple of days.. they said no kind of refund or credit was in the works. Maybe they will reconsider. Theres alot of pissed off customers.

a DOS attack can happen to any server, including GetReponse. Aweber has performed very well for many years and has impacted a lot of businesses and pockets. there is no loyalty anywhere anymore. I wish the guys at aweber well as they work through this challenge and I thank them for the service they have provided.

lol If I had a dollar from every person who says they are going elsewhere, I would be richer than Oprah. First off, look up the definition of DDoS Attack, "In computing, a denial-of-service (DoS) or distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack is an attempt to make a machine or network resource unavailable to its intended users. Although the means to carry out, motives for, and targets of a DoS attack may vary, it generally consists of efforts to temporarily or indefinitely interrupt or suspend services of a host connected to the Internet. As clarification, DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks are sent by two or more persons, or bots." -

Granted, there should be some sort of security in place to try and prevent it. So ya it would be nice to see some sort of credit. Secondly, are you really going to leave and have to create new campaigns with a different service? For a lot of internet marketers who have multiple lists and newsletters etc. it is just not possible and a huge inconvenience for you and your poor customres. I gather anyone who says they are going somewhere else are more likely those who are still very tiny on the IM ladder and even struggling. Aweber is he best so leave the boo hoos behind, there's no place for that in IM. Just not enough time to cry.

Thank you for the latest info on the DOS attack. There is no doubt they are working on this issue before restoring their servers and application back to a clean state. Our company has had 5 years of no down time with Aweber so we wish them well in their troubleshooting of this issue.
