Can't Access Wowhead - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

Having the same problem as everyone else, most text doesn't show. But looking at the source of the pages the info is there, it just will not display for some reason. Tried IE and FF.

Anne Gregory · 30 September 2012 - 10:02

Tried FF as admin, cleared my cache, updated FF, tried Chrome... nothing works. Any advice? All I see is a white page when I try to load Wowhead, and it's been this way since a restart a few days ago.

Paul Robinson · 4 September 2012 - 08:27

Having read the comment saying it's broken in Firefox I had another look... it turns out I was using FF12. But I updated and tried it in FF15 like Marcel and it still works. Which is just odd. Basically if you have a browser it doesn't work in, try FF or even Opera/IE and see what happens!

Paul Robinson · 4 September 2012 - 08:20
United Kingdom · BT

It seems the problem is with Chrome. I use that all the time and I've had the same as everyone else, but I just loaded it up in Firefox and it's like normal. Obviously something they updated is choking on Chrome (browser compatibility fail!). Hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

Marcel Weißmann · 3 September 2012 - 13:29

Hmm Chrome works fine... FF15 nothing works. IE.. nah ain't use that. Opera 12 works fine... FF problems with Wowhead?

Michael Watts · 2 September 2012 - 15:44

Like everyone else says, the page has nothing. Can't do anything from main page apart from click on pictures. No text.

William De La Vega · 2 September 2012 - 13:41

Same here, using Google Chrome, but in Firefox and IE9 is normal.

I can get on a page and it has very little info on what I searched for, no tabs for comments, uses, etc. Page says what it is, then says Related and then Contribute, and a few advertisements.
