Can't Access StudentLoans - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

Very slow, times out, unable to connect. This seems to be an ongoing issue, as have been trying to cmplete MPN etc for a week now. Get 1 or 2 pages in and site is unreachable. Will not come back up for the rest of the day. It's as if they have a few cached pages and everything else dynamic is lost, down, gone.

Nothing but red text saying "We were unable to process your request at this time. Please contact customer service to get further details." I only have a week to apply for the loan.

Kathy Saenz Poppenger · 21 July 2013 - 08:21
United States · AT&T U-verse

My son has been trying to do entrance counseling and the website got stuck at tab 3 for estimating total school debt and income. Then he tried again and it got stuck when trying to input expenses and funding for this year (i.e. even earlier in the process). Now it's completely down. July 31 is looming... It's terrible that you cannot save your work and come back. This has been ridiculous.

Stephanie Arieno · 16 July 2013 - 13:24
United States · Comcast Cable

They put an image of the site itself back up, but it's just an image--you can't click on anything, red font stating there's an emergency outage. And I seriously need to get on this paperwork. Go figure.

Andy Powers · 16 July 2013 - 12:57

Uh oh... the weight of student loan debt finally crushed the server

Ugh... no thanks to the Tech Support for the actual site! What are they doing over there?!
