Can't Access Road Runner - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Try alternative urls such as roadrunner.com

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

This totally sucks! I can't stand it anymore. Today and yesterday SO many problems getting into Roadrunner. Why are we paying for a lame product that is inaccessible, even with all the suggestions to clear cache, etc. This is NOT right.

I can not log in with my pop-server, cannot send e-mail nor receive on two Mac desktops, one IPHONE and IPAD. Two days now. Two reps out who knew nothing, one complained he was losing money by coming to my house because he is a contract serviceman.

Well email comes in, but I still can't access folders, sent, junk or can I delete anything. So pretty much NOT WORKING!!! This has been a week now...

Edit: Well just opened my email to see that TWC has said all email is up and running now. Well... no it's not, as before I still cannot access my sent, junk or folders. I can see my email and sometimes I can look at a few but then it all just stops and the wheels keep turning.

Edit: I just received an email that email is up and running and working fine. Well no it's not. I still have no access to any folders, junk, delete, or sent. I can look at email but that's all.

BEWARE -- Seems like RR is up, but it is trying to deliver over 2200 emails to me. I know they are duplicates, probably 2000+ plus. Just makes it a nightmare to go through them. This has happened before with them, with that "migration" last year that I was not warned about.

I am so sick and tired of the UNRELIABLE service I get through Roadrunner! Over the past two weeks I have had it down at least four times, losing EVERYTHING that was there: pictures, reservations, confirmations, Minutes to meetings, boarding passes, etc. I am so sick of the run around I get from Time Warner!!! FIX IT AND FIT IT CORRECTLY!!!

Edit: If there was any other service in my hour, you can bet I'd leave Time Warner and all their services in a heartbeat! Most unreliable service and business I've ever seen. We're a "captured audience", they know it and don't care! With what these techs get paid certainly there should be SOMEONE capable of finding out what the problem is. Are we going to be compensated in any way for the inconvenience as well as all the times we haven't had access to our emails account? How much do you want to bet the answer is NO!!!

RR is up now 6/19/2014. I can receive mail using windows live mail, but I can only receive when I start Live mail. After the first time, I get errors and can not receive mail. You still have problems after all these days.

Well, I am getting emails from my personal account but NO EMAILS from my business account. It is my secondary account. The last CHAT I had stated that all emails are on the server and I will get them as soon as they have corrected the problem. They could not tell me what that will be. It has been 10 days now. I agree they should be spending their money on support rather than ads!!! Port Orange, FL

My RR account stopped recognizing my password a few days ago on my lap top and PC, but works on my cell. I have tried to reset my password a few times and a message states that it has been done successfully, but when I try to sign on, I get the same "do not recognize" password notice. My cell continues to work, so not sure what password is my password now. What is going on?

So. Calif. RR still down since LAST Wednesday. Just lip service from TWC, below. If they cared, it would have been fixed by now. Pity I have all my bill notifications coming into that account. TWC's will be the first one I will be "down" for. The damage has been done.

Dale Van Camp · 17 June 2014 - 09:44
United States · Time Warner Cable · Internet Explorer 11.0 on Windows

TWC finally sent a cowardly ("Do Not Reply") email saying they're aware and working on the problem. They sent it to the account that is out of service (!!).

BEWARE of when they finally "fix" it -- you may get 1593 previously downloaded emails all at once sent to your phone or Outlook, like I did last year when they were "migrating" to a new server. I'm sure they have more glitches up their sleeves for us top customers.

(BTW, mine are forwarded OK to GMail, but a month ago I had a similar problem with it, too...)

Well, here it is another day without email. At least I was able to access it via webmail but it will only allow me to read one and then is freezes up and you have to close the browser and TRY to go back in to retrieve another. Thanks Bright House in Port Orange, Florida.

AND if I try to reply, there is nothing in the sent box so I have no idea if the email was sent or not. So frustrating!!!

Albany NY: very intermittent email service. Know that I am missing emails but have no idea how many. Tried sending myself 2 emails but only one arrived. NONE of my daily store emails are arriving so you do worry about hackers looking for information

Chuck Phillips · 17 June 2014 - 05:31
United States · Time Warner Cable · Internet Explorer 11.0 on Windows

I guess as long as only 10% of the customers are affected it is not a big deal to TWC. However if you are one of them it is a disaster. I can see why TWC is the lowest rated company for customer service. Email in SC is still down and Business customer is also affected.

I have been having problems with my RR e-mail for a week. I have called three times, and each time was told that the server is having problems and is being worked on. For a week! When I try to get into my live mail accounts now I am presented with two windows. The first says it is checking for new messages, and will go on checking indefinitely until I stop it. The next screen that comes up is an error screen. For good measure i sometimes get a screen asking for my username and pw. When I finally get into livemail, the inbox may or may not be working. My webmail takes forever to load. What is going on?

For me, my mail email (the business one, of course) stopped late Weds 6-11. I'm in So. Calif. It has never been back up (mail is automatically forwarded to my phones). My two subaccounts with TWC work OK. I just hate to have to log in to RR.com because it has to be the slowest and worst webmail server around. And I abhor answering email from that site (much prefer my Outlook) or my phone servers. I am now getting my mail account forwarded to Gmail. Never thought I would appreciate Gmail like I do now. Remember when calling Tech Support not to get angry at them -- not their fault. But ask for a supervisor, and then the supervisor's supervisor. And demand a hefty refund or credit.

Mandy Jane · 16 June 2014 - 13:40
United States · Time Warner Cable · Firefox 29.0 on Windows

This is longer acceptable!!! I have called in to tech support no less than 20x in the last 35 days. I had log in issues most of May, no access for 2 days the first week of June, and no service since last Wednesday... enough already. Every person you speak with has a different answer... 5 employees in the last week had the nerve to say that they were not having an outage... Hello TWC... you have an outage!

I keep wondering if the Time Warner employees who are losing their jobs because of the merger are "hacking" it, especially when it works during the weekend and then doesn't work come Monday morning. Am I being paranoid?

Suzanne Rapaelian Larson · 16 June 2014 - 12:08
United States · Time Warner Cable · Internet Explorer 9.0 on Windows

Still can send regularly but only receive sporadically in SE Wisconsin. 2:07 pm on Monday 6.16.14. Worked all weekend though. Is it the volume of weekday mail that RR cannot handle?

Dale Van Camp · 16 June 2014 - 11:43
United States · Time Warner Cable · Internet Explorer 11.0 on Windows

This is what happens when (1) a merger is in the works and employees give up or sabotage, and (2) there is no competition because of those mega mergers. I have many clients quite angry and me. They have different servers so they don't "buy" my excuses.

We are also in SW Ohio and have not had consistent access to Roadrunner email for the past week. Very frustrating, as we are dependent on daily emails for my husband's business needs. We just called Time Warner and the automated response indicated there were issues and to reset our modem. This did not work. Has anyone heard the root cause and why Time Warner is not able to resolve the issue?

Tampa Bay RR was down most of last week for one of my sub accounts. It worked fine this weekend, but now I have two sub accounts that aren't working, and two that are. What in the world is up with RR?

Todd Fox · 16 June 2014 - 09:14
United States · Bright House Networks · Internet Explorer 8.0 on Windows

And now I can't access Webmail any longer. Up and down, up and down. And it looks like the www.rr.com site AGAIN has a "mail is having problems" message. Even that message goes up and down, up and down.

Edit: I will note again that I can/am still forwarding email from my broken primary email address to a working secondary email address. I'm using the "Foward and keep on server" option when forwarding. This seems to get the emails copied over to my working account... and it may serve as a useful workaround for others. I don't think I have lost any emails since I set up forwarding, but there is no way to be sure of course. All my test messages always go thru when I send to my broken primary account: I can always read them in my secondary mailbox. This might work if you forward to a gmail account or any other external account, but I haven't tried that specifically..

Thank God I've got Road Runner Business Class email service. I just don't know how I could run my business without it! I'm sure the documents sent to me days ago by the Federal Government that I need to complete and return can wait. Customer e-mailed orders that need to ship today can wait as well. Customs clearance and orders for raw materials can wait as well. Can you imagine what the TWC merger with Comcast will do to customer and internet service! This has been an ongoing problem yet to be resolved. And the internet speed is laughable. Thanks to my government I have only one other choice for internet service locally and that is AT&T which our company left to go to TWC! And we wonder why America is falling behind.

this is a bizarre problem... I have my primary email created by RR and 4 sub-accounts created by me and using Outlook to pull messages. This weekend all 5 accounts worked great. Last week and this morning all 4 sub-accounts are working great however my primary account is returning a connection to server was interrupted in Outlook. Next time email is working I'am going to configure email to auto forward from my primary account to my trash account. Seems like TWC is disabling our primary accounts for some reason... WHY??? I also called the 800 number on my TWC bill last week and complained like hell; result a significant credit on next month's bill.

Older emails (sent during the outage) appear to be trickling in. This would imply that they have gotten all the servers back online. Hope others are seeing the same - and working email again for all? I don't think all of my test messages have come thru, so maybe the pipe is still flushing...

While RR appears to be up in SE Wisconsin since Saturday morning 6.14.14, I am finding out that several e-mails sent to me over the past week are "missing." They did not bounce back to the sender or come through to me. Grrrr...

Julie Clark · 14 June 2014 - 16:48

I am located in SW Ohio. My email has been down almost continuously for approx. 4 days. Like another person stated, it may come up for a moment and allow a couple of emails through but has been down most of the time. I have called and reported it and had a 'chat' session this morning with them. They admit they are having problems but can give me no estimated time for when their repair will be completed. They did assure me though that all the emails are 'queuing' and I will not lose any emails-that they will all come through once the problem is resolved. At this point, I am not a happy customer.

Vicky Miner · 14 June 2014 - 13:49

Day 5 of no email service in upstate NY. It actually was up for a few minutes this morning but with only one incoming new email, NO old emails, and NO FOLDERS !!! Aaach !!!

Todd Fox · 14 June 2014 - 09:30
United States · Bright House Networks · Internet Explorer 8.0 on Windows

"Technical support", and I use the term generously, indicated to me today that "some" of their servers are back online, but clearly not all. This person also indicated a strong liklihood that mail has not been queueing and will not be delivered. I also had a chat engineer tell me "No worries. All queued email will be delivered when the "cluster" is restored". "Cluster" was exactly the word I was looking for... Believe who you will, but I'm pretty sure that senders have not been getting bouncebacks for non-delivery... and thus email has been going straight into the "bit bucket" and are lost.

Looks like mine is up, I was able to send an email. No new mail since Wed. however and all my folders are wiped out, gone. What a mess.

So anyone know the actual status of RR email? The "mail is having problems" message is gone from www.rr.com, and I *seem* to be getting test messages that I send to myself (last night and this morning), and a few from others again, but what about queued email from the past three to four days? Will we see any of it? Many are reporting mail is gone from their mail folders (webmail) as well. Is that true for anyone here? All in all, this could not have been handled any worse by the companies involved. IF fixed, a message should be put on the web site that it is resolved, and any data impacts, etc. You just don't remove a message without any explanation and leave us twisting and wondering.

RR/TW email is down for the third day. This happened a couple of months ago. Sent emails were never received. We went back to paper mail for all of our financial institutions. They just couldn't understand, nor believe us. 'Just a warning to the wise.

Don't be fooled into thinking RR has their e-mail up and running because you get a few e-mails and the error message doesn't pop up anymore. Send yourself an e-mail and watch to see if you get it. Also check the direct e-mail at RR.com log-in. Still not working at 4:35 p.m. central time.

I set my non-functional master/primary email account to forward ongoing emails to one of my working email sub-accounts by changing the Settings on the master account. I changed the forward option to "Forward and keep on Server" and that is copying ongoing email sent to the bad, master account to forward to the good sub-account. I'm back and limping along, but I worry about the tens of millions of emails that are probably lost forever to us over the past 3-4 days. Are these queueing up somewhere? I don't think any bouncebacks are being received by senders are they?

dave:
I finally gave up, deleted all my roadrunner messages, created a outlook e-mail which responds quiclkly every time. The tec at twc said that if I do no open the roadrunner.com e-mail for 180 days it is gone forever.

I keep wondering if there is a undercover plan of twc to demote all users of basic cable to slower response and speed rates to compell them to pay the $10- $15 / month for turbo speedup. Even the Time Warner web page opens much slower than MSN, s webpage. I smell a rat, and I am done with roadrunner e-mail

I get road runner email sporadically, now, not at all. I called, and they said they are experiencing email problems. Of course, they won't reimburse you. You pay, even when they're down. (June 14, 2014, Friday, 3pm Eastern time)

Okay, this is really more than irritating now. My Windows Mail shows an e-mail as sent to myself, but the test e-mail does not come into my "inbox" either on my computer or on the Time Warner e-mail system directly. Time Warner has been having e-mail problems all week and needs to figure this out!

when i got RR ISP they gave me RR email I'm sorry now that I ever began using the dam thing. I have had probs the entire way through, and now for the last 3 days I can't even get into it, I type my pass and it just sits there saying it's waiting for the site. These ISP companies get you trapped this way, they hand you their email service you put it on all your bills and crap and then they can get away with crappy service cause they know it's hard for you to change everything to another email company like hotmail or whatever. I have NEVER had these problems when I had hotmail email. I can not get into my email and thats got me PO'd

I too cannot access my RR account, but for those that think G-mail is better, just wait until you have a problem and can't even get a person to call you. All they offer is robotic machines that keep telling you you can't log in, but don't give you any help in clarifying why, even when you've changed your password for the 60th time!

I am on SC Time Warner Road Runner for my e-mail. I have been on this program for over a decade with very few glitches. HOWEVER, for the past ten days to two weeks my e-mail is at BEST able to randomly receive e-mail. I spent over an hour with a really concerned tech about ten days ago even going to the extent of coming into my computer. NOTHING worked. Later that day mail came in sporadically and has been that way since. . I can send, I just can't receive. I have no idea what has created this aggravating problem. I wonder if it is because of the recent merger between Time Warner and Comcast. We have also noticed that our Time Warner Cable services goes out more often. Thereare problems navigating the system. There seems to be a time delay when we scroll through your HDMI cable programming that is ON DEMANd, and if you click on something AT THE WRONG TIME you freeze up and have to reboot. I would hate to leave Time Warner because they have always been dependable until now. If this isn't soon solved I will have to go to another option for our Cable and Internet Connection. Thank god we never got them for our phone service.

Problem with roadrunner has gotten worse in the last week. Most consistent message now is: 'sending of password did not succeed. Mail server pop-server.nyc.rr.com responded; mail storage services unavailable. Wait a few minutes and try again." (ha-ha)

In response to Lynn Halliburton: Bright House wants you to receive your bill via email, if it's always down how do they expect you to pay if you can't get it. Plus if you switch back to a paper bill they will charge you a $1 per month. As for me, I flat out refuse to pay even $1 a month in order to receive my bill via a reliable method. And I've told them just that!
