Can't Access Open Diary - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

I am beyond devastated. I have entries stemming back from middle school - and I graduated college nearly four years ago. I never thought to follow their Facebook (or even consider that they had one!). FOD seemed such an archaic - in the best possible way - and therefore safe - place to share all of my thoughts and feelings. for years I've told myself to print out all of my entries, so that I would never lose them. but I failed to do so, and now, I am without over a decade of journal entries and writings that I can hardly recall as specific memories. my heart aches - my mind trying to grasp what is now gone forever. I realize and take ownership of the fact that I didn't often visit the site - after growing older and beginning a busy working life, I stopped write like I used to. I only visited the site to reminsce and log an entry every few months. but that doesn't take away from the meaning behind my entries. the memories, the details, all gone forever. I can only hope that the owner of this site will reconsider, even for a brief time, to reopen the site. I will gladly pay whatever membership fee they deem appropriate. I can't put a price on my memories and entries... please...

People here are complaining there wasn't any time or notice, there was a month given, it was updated on the main site and the Facebook page. If you left and didn't regularly check either then it isn't O.D's fault.

When I found out I spread it across my Facebook and let people I knew were on O.D know as well because of the site's instability. It sucks but the people to blame aren't O.D it is your own fault and if you need to blame others then it lies with those who didn't let you know.

I am beyond devastated about losing 15 years worth of entires... does anyone have ANY answers as to how we can get them back? Maybe if we start a trending topic on twitter and facebook we can gain enough attention to get the owners of the website to temporarily launch the site again long enough for us to save our work? My heart is broken over this, I had no idea this would happen, no warning... :(
