Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Have not been able to FTP updates to host server for 4 days; have had NO response to trouble tickets; and today, cannot log on to host site to maintain website. Grrr...Net Sol used to be the "Cadillac" hosting site, now it is the "Yugo". At least our website is up, just unmaintainable.

It's getting worse. In the last couple of weeks NS has stopped working of and on through out the day. It's to the point where I'm signing into my account 5-8 times each hour due to it either getting bounced out or just because it has stopped working. It's gotten to the point where it takes several attempts to even let me in at times. Does anyone know what's going on and if they are close to a solution?

Same thing here. On travel in Europe, no Email for 3 days. Again down today. Had to change pwd to "unblock acct". Why was it blocked. No help from the idiots at NS. They even send me Email to the blocked account... They are history I am moving to ipage. Good riddance.

loading error or delaying the task is mostly because of network connection problem which cause the web to work hard and longer, you must check your network connectivity first to get your job done, following link will be helpful:

No way to contact Network Solutions as yet, today I've been waiting over an hour and yesterday I got through 3 times each time the person said they had to transfer me to another department at which point the phone cut out or I was sent back to automatic answering system to go through the process again. Every email I try to send has: Automatic bug report for 6.20.7 Rev18 error message.

It took almost 24 hours for my clients site to be fixed. Their site and email were both down all day on Monday. When I called tech support, the rep did even know the difference between web hosting and domain hosting.

Network Solutions email is terrible. Their mail server deletes what "they" think is spam and does not put it in a spam folder so I can make the determination. I am moving all my business away from Network Solutions. I have been a customer for 10 years and they use to be good but now it stinks... DO NOT USE THEM!!

I reached network solutions email support number after an 11 minute wait. The rep checked my e-mail and confirmed it looked ok. The emails that were not delivered to my mail box this week were from yahoo and sbc. He said that there have been reports of problems with yahoo and sbc email servers and the emails I did not get may not have gotten off of their server.

Spoke with them last night and they said that they were aware of a problem that would involved any type of ftp access... including uploading, downloading or connecting via frontpage as it connects in a similar way. Said they should have it fixed by this morning. Here we are and I still can't save the simplest changes to my client's website.

After calling NetSol's Gold VIP support and having it ring busy for an hour, then finally getting through, and then staying on hold for about 50 minutes, the answer to my "what happened" question was "there aren't any outages, nor have there been for quite some time". Name Services were on the fritz for nearly 2 hours today, and I had *plenty* of pissed off customers who couldn't get to needed, business-critical servers. I'm moving all Name Services to Amazon's Route53 this evening for two reasons: 1 - NetSol won't admit that they had a problem even when they are caught in the middle of it. 2 - NetSol *never* admits that they have a problem...must be nice to be as infallible as NetSol...

Normally wouldn't comment when everything is working, but everything has been up and running for 1 hour and 35 minutes from here in the Silicon Valley and access to Network Solutions' website is running at full speed. I still would like to know what happened, because if it was because Network Solutions shot themselves in the foot (or even if not) we're moving DNS to a separate company. If it wasn't DOS attack, it's pretty disappointing as a long-time Network Solutions customer.

I host over a hundred sites and I try to get all my customers no matter where they buy their domain name to use me for DNS. I use Amazon Route 53 DNS and I have had 100% uptime with them. So this morning, one of my customers that refuses to use us for DNS complained their site was down. I said Network Solutions is down and that is where your DNS service is. From my twenty years of experience no matter where you have your DNS hosted it's going to go down at some point. But the odds of it going down are higher when you use the domain registrar for DNS hosting. Point your DNS to an outside dedicated DNS provider, pay the extra money and have some peace of mind. I'm waiting for when Amazon goes down, but they have a tremendous amount of redundancy in their servers world wide, so I'm betting the odds are better than most. And if you really can't have your DNS go down, have a rollover provider for when one DNS server goes down it rolls over to another company. My customer is in Washington State by the way, server is in Texas.

Yes you can, but you need access to Netsol's servers to do that. What you want to do is set up your domain on another DNS provider such as dnsmadeasy. Don't try this if you don't have a full understanding of DNS records and DNS hosting.

My e-commerce site is down in Western Illinois. Has been for more than an hour. Attempted to call NSI multiple times with hangups, "We're experiencing heavy call volume, please call back later, " messages, etc. Just called back on their 877-628-8686 number and this time I pressed "2" for new sales. Lo and behold! Someone answered the phone! Draw your own conclusions, folks. As for me, I'll be moving my DNS ASAP. I've been a loyal Network Solutions customers for years and they used to have A+ customer service. That is no longer the case. They just lost a customer.

I called Gold VIP at NetSol, got a recorded message that they were having issues with blacklist servers... From what I am seeing there is either a massive DOS attack going on, a cascade failure, or they got linked into thenew healthcare.gov website :-). I do not like being hung up on, but usually on that line they answer within a minute. They must have a rather huge amount of call volume. The overflow goes offshore, and they have a huge number of operators... Lots of people calling in with issues...
