We have tried pinging Lycos Mail website using our server and the website returned the above results. If mail.lycos.com is down for us too there is nothing you can do except waiting. Probably the server is overloaded, down or unreachable because of a network problem, outage or a website maintenance is in progress...

Can't Access Lycos Mail - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Try alternative urls such as mailcity.com

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

For Lycos emails go to: http://mail.b.hostedemail.com
OR visit http://lycosstatus.com, when it loads there is the word MAIL at the top. Click that & it will get to your Lycos mail. I discovered this accidentally, but still cannot access my Lycos websites for the 3rd day. Lycos has failed us badly.

Lycosmail.com has been down for me for at least 30hrs. Have tried different computers and chrome, safari and firefox to connect. The message is always the same.... cannot find the server. Having to trawl the internet for information and reading on this website that Lycos is up and running is a real drag. This is not the first time I have had problems and it happens quite frequently. Othertimes I'm warned in the initial process that Lycos is not certified and I should not use it. I have had a Lycos account for many years and it is my main email account but am becoming extremely annoyed at the lack of information Lycos gives out about it's problems and their inability to solve them. If it was Yahoo , Hotmail or Gmail there would be an outcry in the press and everyone would know what was going on and something might get done to fix the problems.

I can get mail only up to the point the website went down about 24 hours ago. If you need to see your current emails you're screwed. As far as I can tell ALL lycos and affiliate websites are completely gone ! I've got my fingers crossed, but I was reading where there was/is an internal war going on in within this company. André Mercier · 16 June 2016 - 17:32

It is a technical issue, not a financial one. I am able to access and receive new e-mails with the temporary link. The only thing missing are e-mails that might have been sent during their DNS server failure. If that server is down, the Internet can't find lycos.com and deliver your mail. As for the scaremongers, even if Lycos is in Chapter 11, someone will buy the users...you can count on it.
