Browser Related Problems

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Finally, lycos mail was working for me at 10:15 EST when I tried it. On the down side, 69 pieces of junk mail had built up.

I am back in business now. Was able to log in on the first try just now and everything appears to be back to normal. I also got a response to my help ticket I sent in, saying that it should be good to go and to reply to the ticket if it isn't working again.

I've been trying to access my website since yesterday to make updates. I get password/username don't match message. Tried to get password changed. They don't recognize my email address. Opened a help ticket about 16 hours ago. No response yet.

Nice to see that their ads are still working well. Maybe if enough of us click on the ads, they'll reach a magic number and all will open to us?

I havent been able to logon for the last 24hrs. Problems with logon or password from lycos's perspective. I havent changed either? I have had it before and it fixed itself after a few days

Haven't been able to log in ALL DAY. Says my password is wrong, but I've never changed it!! I even tried to use the link Reset Password, but I don't know what email address (beside my Lycos one) is tied to this account, so now I'm wondering if I "reset" my password--and have no way of getting at new one!! Am I DOOMED???

Haven't been able to login since Monday night/Tuesday morning. I've had the 2 accounts since 2000. Wouldn't kill me if I never get back in but would just be a pain in the butt to try to update all my credit card, amazon, ebay, paypal, playstation etc to my current e-mail addresses which is only reason I kept using the lycos addresses.

I love the note at the top that says 14 users have reported problems but their test shows it works just fine. I haven't been able to get in all day. I bought a domain yesterday and I have two websites on Tripod. Had problems, even with a customer service rep; kept trying to put the wrong website on the domain I bought. Today I got an email that says I have to register the domain within a certain time in order to keep it... even though I paid for it. But I refuse to register anything since their website won't let me in. Same issues as others are reporting- it says my username and password don't match. When I tried to use the "reset password" option it says they have no record of my email being in their system. Called and got the recording that they are having login issues. Now I have two websites that are unpublished and cannot be accessed.

Lycos is not recognizing my password. I sent a service request to them and they responded that they are having registration issues. Glad they are not my primary email account. I mostly use them for junk mail and when I have to give an address out for something.

The message support system does not work. It fails because once there is a user name problem one cannot access the reset password. Meanwhile there is no backup response, just an automated reply from, the support computer and no 'real'people to check the problem.

Lycos domains, angelfire and tripod, not accepting usernames, emails or passwords as of now. Emailed customer support. Email clients still seem to collect email though, so something is working. first noticed 15.00 GMT

I have a "free trial" I need to cancel and can't access my account!! Lycos is soooo unreliable. As for a 9am open on Wednesday, 1/22/14... the northeast U.S. got more than a foot of snow yesterday. Let's hope these folks are telecommuters!

What I find so annoying is that just no information is passed on to the user. Just always lycos.com is up and active. This behavior me on German Railways, where passenger are not informed why their train is not comming and what is the reason for the delay. I hate it.

Can't get in so I can update my website. All Lycos/Tripod pages just come up page cannot be displayed. Tried on three computers, a tablet, and a smart phone with same results on all. Which also means I can't get the phone number to call them since you have to log in to your paid account to do that. Trying chat support and this person is not much help since he keeps telling me to log in so he can help. Umm... THE LOG IN PAGE CAN'T PULL UP!
