Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

I have been trying to contact Lycos to unlock a domain. I finally got a reply from them to supply certain information. I did this but have heard nothing from them. Live Chat doesn't work and also phoning them just gives an automated response to call back later. It never work. I having been trying to do this since December and am getting very frustrated

Same here, when trying to get into my lycos mail it says problem with their security certificate. We all know this site is genuine, so don't be afraid to use the click on into your email that states it's not recommended to use it, but it will let you into your email! Tried calling them, and recording says try again later. Later it still says the same when you call. Tried also their contact by email, guess what? That doesn't work either..... Hmmmmmmmmmm ( scratches head)

I'm in the same situation in that it's day 4 and I still am unable to get into Lycos mail due to an expired security certificate as of 12/18/15....or so that's what's been popping up on my screen.

Bad time for this to happen. Can't track packages I ordered for Christmas and info emailed to me. Can't access return labels which have been emailed to me. Been with Lycos since 1998 and this is not the first time this has happened. May be time to make a change after all these years.

This web site is not checking for the email site so it is reachable, Lycos.mail certificate is expired, thus all the denial of access/ potential hacker commentary. This happened a few years back. it took a little under a week for them to fix it.

Haven't been able to login since Monday night/Tuesday morning. I've had the 2 accounts since 2000. Wouldn't kill me if I never get back in but would just be a pain in the butt to try to update all my credit card, amazon, ebay, paypal, playstation etc to my current e-mail addresses which is only reason I kept using the lycos addresses.

I love the note at the top that says 14 users have reported problems but their test shows it works just fine. I haven't been able to get in all day. I bought a domain yesterday and I have two websites on Tripod. Had problems, even with a customer service rep; kept trying to put the wrong website on the domain I bought. Today I got an email that says I have to register the domain within a certain time in order to keep it... even though I paid for it. But I refuse to register anything since their website won't let me in. Same issues as others are reporting- it says my username and password don't match. When I tried to use the "reset password" option it says they have no record of my email being in their system. Called and got the recording that they are having login issues. Now I have two websites that are unpublished and cannot be accessed.

Lycos is not recognizing my password. I sent a service request to them and they responded that they are having registration issues. Glad they are not my primary email account. I mostly use them for junk mail and when I have to give an address out for something.

The message support system does not work. It fails because once there is a user name problem one cannot access the reset password. Meanwhile there is no backup response, just an automated reply from, the support computer and no 'real'people to check the problem.

What I find so annoying is that just no information is passed on to the user. Just always is up and active. This behavior me on German Railways, where passenger are not informed why their train is not comming and what is the reason for the delay. I hate it.

Can't get in so I can update my website. All Lycos/Tripod pages just come up page cannot be displayed. Tried on three computers, a tablet, and a smart phone with same results on all. Which also means I can't get the phone number to call them since you have to log in to your paid account to do that. Trying chat support and this person is not much help since he keeps telling me to log in so he can help. Umm... THE LOG IN PAGE CAN'T PULL UP!

Still down in my house 2/9/13 at 1120. This is why I switched the majority of email to gmail. Lycos has terrible service.
