Probably the server is overloaded, down or unreachable because of a network problem, outage or a website maintenance is in progress...

Can't Access Ipernity - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

This worrying news from Roger Bennion, posted on he ipernity facebook page:

I have been given the info below by a friend of one of my ipernity contacts. I find this very alarming!! "I have just spoken to my ISP and explained that many thousands of people in the UK are unable to access the site. This is what I have been told: My ISP, Cooperative Broadband, is hosted via Talk Talk. In the past, Talk Talk have been fined many millions of pounds for not introducing EU legislation quickly enough. On this occasion, they have implemented new EU Legislation which bans sites and domains that have been found to contain child pornography. I have no argument with that. What this means, in practical terms, is that iPernity, although not responsible for other sites hosting child pornography, is hosted in a similar place where they emanate from. I have also been informed that, in the past, it has taken many months for the ISPs to work through each connection and reconnect the non-offending sites. iPernity may be 'down' for many months, if it ever returns. Those ISPs currently not affected soon will be as they work through and implement the new EU legislation. I was only able to speak to the emergency w/end staff at my ISP. They suggested I report the problem in the morning. Can I suggest that anyone who uses Talk Talk contacts them and register your disdain!"

It's still down - I can partially view my pages by using a proxy so I know the pages still exist - I just can't get at them!

I've questioned talktalk and the guy at the Indian call center said he couldn't offer any advice on the problem until they had fully checked my internet connection from the house to the exchange, even though I explained that it was only one site that I was unable to connect to - although the broadband connection speed here is worse than a dialup connection. And the test couldn't be done while I was using the phone, so they will call me back tomorrow with the test results. But somehow I think they are looking for the wrong problem, I don't think my dismal broadband speed is actually the problem. But it would be nice to know the genuine speed so I can bitch to BT !

UPDATE: I have now spoken to the Talktalk technical support centre. It is in the Phillipines. They can't get a connection to ipernity either. So I asked my neighbours to look up ipernity.com. One is using talktalk and the link times out and can't get any access. The other neighbour is on BT Infinity and using his computer I can access ipernity and log onto my account without any problem at all. The three of our houses were built and installed broadband at the same time three years ago. From my 3G phone I can access ipernity's mobile app OK. So I spoke to talktalk customer services who confirmed that they do not have any HomeSafe security issue with ipernity and so no block is in place there. The customer services is in India and could see the ipernity site through google but not able to make a connection. So I escalated to the Fault Managers and registered a complaint which is now open and being investigated. They expected to find some resolution within 48 hours, but seem to have no record of anyone else contacting them with an issue of connecting to ipernity from the UK. I am copying this post to the Is it Down Right Now website as well.
