Can't Access Frys Home Electronics - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

Frys.com website appears to be down. I get "This webpage is not available" on both my home cable network and my Android wireless phone network. I am able to access all other websites that I attempt except Frys. Hope it comes back up soon.

Mick Kassem · 8 July 2014 - 12:07

Purchased from Frys for years. First time the site was down for me. I have found them fast on delivery and having great pricing.

I hope they feel the pain of having a crashed site. Sites need to be bombproof. They are losing TONS of money on orders AND respect and loyalty. Go to Newegg.

Tom Nystel · 7 July 2014 - 11:24

I called the customer service line and was told that it was down on their side as well. Not able to process an order or give a price quote. They suggested checking back in an hour.

Site is down. May 16, 2014. For a company in the industry Fry's has the worst website and online store. I love em anyway but I wish they would update the product descriptions like Amazon or NewEgg.

After the system came back my cart was empty.. I was able to get through after retrying multiple times.

Can't submit my order keep getting system error try later. Both on PC and iPad

Harsh Deshpande · 28 November 2013 - 14:15
United States · Comcast Cable

Now it lets me hit the submit button and then gives an error 'System Error: Please try again later".

Mark, the site is not very user friendly. 'System Error" means the items are not available anymore for pickup. When you go to the catalog and if it says "Available in store only", that means you cannot reserve the item.

Jessica Nelson · 28 November 2013 - 13:31

Website is back up now!!! Hurry and get on!!! I just made some reservations for items!!!

for the last 1 hour. i can visit the site add items to cart. and go to checkout page after selecting store At the submit order final button. constantly getting

System Error, Please try again later

Edit: phew... finally went through. Got order confirmation email as well.. Got ipad mini. So I still get 100$ gift card tomorrow when i go pick up these items rt ???

I got Window Surface order confirmation done via my mobile phone! Try it guys!

Fry's still have the cheaper Window Surface sale tho. Just got mine $229 with touch keyboard cover.

I don't know if it makes a difference or not but I was able to complete my order on my iPhone. I was able to get through pretty quickly. Just used 209.118.198.7 and was patient. Good luck guys!!!

Harsh Deshpande · 28 November 2013 - 12:19

The site is still not working. All I get to is the landing page and product listings. I still cannot add anything to my cart nor can I get to view my cart. This has been a total waste of time since 8:45 AM since I had the items in my wish list and exactly at 9:00 AM I added all of them to my cart and within 30 seconds after 9:00 AM, the site has been non functional. On the other hand, I could just go to Microsoft Store website and buy what I wanted without any issues.

Gim Kang · 28 November 2013 - 11:55

@Kyle Levine: Thanks, your work-around worked. I used it on a different computer and was able to get in but everything I wanted was already unavailable. Now I'm stuck on my desktop hoping I can still push the order I started earlier through to finish and not lose the items I had in my shopping cart at that moment :(

Harsh Deshpande · 28 November 2013 - 11:33

Even using the IP address provided by some people here does not work. The problem is not at the http server level. I think their backend crashed.

Angelina Ferrara · 28 November 2013 - 11:32

Guys. I just got the Apple Macbook Pro Retina (haswell) 13.3 inch for $1050! No tax! Shipped! That's cheaper than frys. Here's the link: www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1010900-REG/apple_me864ll_a...

Edit: I'm sorry. I meant to say $1149 shipped. I live in California and in my county we have an 8% sales tax rate, so this is about $45 cheaper than Frys.

Naomi Altamirano · 28 November 2013 - 11:27

I just talked to a rep on the phone support line he says it will be a few hours before they have it running. he is trying to purchase something himself and it will not let him. he said "we advertised the store pickup and received a great response beyond what we expected and our results turned into our biggest nightmare." I get to the final screen but then it crashes. stay positive folks! & happy thanksgiving.

Charles Ramsell · 28 November 2013 - 11:22

OK - as with the majority of comments here, I agree that the site and this "relaxing" event have been a complete and utter failure. Fry's - for your part in this you should step up and address those of us who have been trying thus far to use your "site" and our complete frustration. I started this process at 9 am and twice now to purchase an "item"; I have gotten to the cart stage to only have "server timeout" issues.

I completely understand failure and accidents - what i do not tolerate is lack of credibility or acceptance of responsibility. This site should have been treated as though it was a major brick and mortar store with tens of thousands lined up outside just waiting to get in to begin their "Black Friday" experience.

The only thing Black here so far is the black mark on your companies image and reputation.

Take the site down until you can adequately provide the promised guest experience.

Ebay is selling brand new Surface RT 32gb for $169 (free shipping) and $30.99 for the soft touch keyboard (free shipping) comes out for $209.99 which is cheaper and a faster ordering process than Fry's

This is ludicrous, how does an electronics store that offers all these IT technologies like highspeed internet for businesses keep any sort of positive reputation when during one of their biggest if not their biggest, internet sales events their entire site goes down... absolutely ridiculous... If they dont offer rainchecks for this malfunction I will be taking my business elsewhere permanently... I planned on spending over 1800 with their company today... guess I may have to find another electronics store to shop at...

Ok Guys found Frys.com's IP address and discovered a secondary server on .7 (changed the last octet by 1) Just update your host file so that frys.com goes to .7 (which will prevent .6 from loading - which is being flooded at the moment) I know its probably ACE'ing the traffic between the two IPs - but you'll be surprised how many times an ACE isn't configured properly to load balance the traffic and only one is being utilized

- hah leave their IT guys alone - they probably could not have overseen this issue - unless they can somehow simulate millions of hits and pound their stage servers ahead of time.

@Tony Sure, I could go with that. Fry's never did have a strong point in the whole web sales business. Remember outpost? Bleh!

Tony Gibbens · 28 November 2013 - 09:44
United States · AT&T U-verse

Here's a private company (frys.com) that had plenty of models to use (estimate site usage, known design examples - amazon's, neweggs, etc.), had plenty of time to create the site in, had private (non-government) management, and STILL failed to properly implement their website. However, I don't hold the website failure to be representative of the company or the company's policies as a whole. I do hold the website failure to be an example of the company not being able to manage web development.

Does anyone understand the analogy that I'm trying to post?

Sometimes the IT people don't have much say in the matter. They work with what management allows for them to. As cheap as Fry's tries to be, most of the time, I wouldn't go straight to blaming the techs. They obviously did not stress test the servers, or did, and were not provided the resources to do anything about it.

Angelina Ferrara · 28 November 2013 - 09:39
