Fix DNS Problems

After reporting the issue with the non-functional links, I have received the same answer the other contributors report. To make it more galling, it went straight to my junk folder. It would seem that there is no one looking into this. I am beginning to wonder if these are just systems that the Excite people forgot to turn off when leaving the company, which seems to be all but dead.

Excite has been down and not able to follow any news links for over a month.Sorry but I swiched to a new home page, I can handle a day down, not over a month. I have noticed more and more of the link areas failing, even the local weather has not updated in two years.

I recieved the same response from Excite Support in reference to news links being inoperative saying: "We are aware of the issue and hope to have it resolved as soon as possible.

We regret any inconvenience this has caused.

Note: There are other problems with some links not opening on the Excite web page so maybe this is the end for this wonderful web portal we have all grown to depend on for so many years. I sure hope I am wrong in my assessement.

Bummer… all news items on Excite news (e.g., http://news.excite.com/index/id/top|ap.html) are down, just as everyone here has been saying. It's been that way for a month or two. This has always been my go-to news site… lots of headlines from which to choose, without a lot of distracting graphics. I was hoping that this was just a temporary error. I'd love to see this service get fixed. Not sure where else I'll go for easily-readable, easily-clickable news items. Suggestions?

My Excite, which is operated by Mindspark and owned by IAC Search and Media. I too have the link error message.

I sent a email to Mindspark Customer Support [support@help.mindspark.com]

They assinged me a case number. Maybe this will help get some answers.

Excite.com seems to be circling the drain these days with one or more features going down and STAYING down regularly for long periods of time. The lights may still be on but it seems no one is home anymore.....especially not in the maintenance dept.

A month or more to solve rather basic issues with a site that has been operating for 20 years? I'd say IAC is on autopilot here, sucking money out of the site and doing NOTHING to maintain it.

I'm actually surprised that I got a response. But a response is not a solution. Can we light a fire under this "team?" Here's the email address again:

Links to most news services have been broken since mid December, though the titles are current, and not updated for the NYT since mid November, but you can actually click on these titles and go to the NYT article. Like reading old magazines in a doctor's office... It is so pathetic that it is almost funny.

There is a half-assed workaround for (at least) AP stories:

Using Chrome as your browser and Google as your default search engine, highlight the article title that you want to read in your "My News" section. Right click on it, and select from the menu [Search Google for "your title"]. Generally this will return several search results matching the article you want.

The only email address I can find to complain to Excite with is:

support@cs.excite.com

It may be a black hole but I don't know what else to do.

Actually, a little poking around tells me that it's the AP links that aren't valid. You can set your news feeds to the other sources (FOX, MSNBC USA Today, NY Times etc and the links will work.

The "my news" and links that appear on the excite home age are not working. The window pops up that says "Sorry! We couldn't find the page you requested.

It is like the email account doesn't exist. Tried logging into another email account and sending an email to my excite email --- it just bounces back. 12/28/15 I can login to My Excite OK. Get my personal page OK.

FWIW, I have been able to log in and get the My Page that I'm used to getting ... news headlines, Bookmarks, weather, etc. And without clearing cookies or cache or browsing history, thank you very much all level 1 techs.

Don't know if this will help anyone else but in my Chrome browser, I opened my currently favorite search engine (Google) and keyed in: excite.com
and clicked on "Sign in" that showed under the 1st Excite item that was returned. That took me to the "Personalize My TV Listings!" which I didn't think was the right direction but decided to play along and keyed in my zip and provider and was presented with the page to select my channels to be listed. I scrolled to the bottom clicked on Submit and...

Voila!! My Page is back!

I've been using excite as my web portal for over a decade ... maybe 2. There's been a handful of times that it was inaccessible, or the news wasn't updating, but this is the first time I've reached the site and unable to access My Bookmarks.

Myexcite home page comes up, however when I select email it returns to the homepage. This occurs at work and home so I doubt it is on my end...

I am receiving a warning that Excite.com is not safe to use, do to a possible virus or phishing or malware - a potential loss of sensitive info is possible. I have updated AVG anti-virus and full protective software. Anyone else have this problem?

Got an update email to my work account from Excite, saying they 'think the issue has been resolved" dated 12/16 -- this, however, is NOT true, dated 12/26! Still looking at the same message, same stuff that was sitting there 12/9!! What IS the problem???

About 3 weeks ago i couldn't forward e-mail jokes, then i couldn't send any e-mails & on Friday not receiving any e-mails.. I have given up & changing to an new e-mail, after 14 years with excite.I can still sign in to get at the excite contact list, so that's a positive.
