We have tried pinging Bank Of America website using our server and the website returned the above results. If bankofamerica.com is down for us too there is nothing you can do except waiting. Probably the server is overloaded, down or unreachable because of a network problem, outage or a website maintenance is in progress...
If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:
Browser Related Problems
- Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)
- Try alternative urls such as bofa.com
- Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems
A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.
- Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

- If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.
- Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on
how to change your DNS.

Tried to access B of Am on iPhone using my Safari bookmark page but it times me out. Using the B of Am app I was able to log in by answering a security question, however, I have 3 bills to pay and the app appears to allow only one at a time, so I'll wait for the regular site to come back online. B of Am should post when they're down and give a time estimate of when online banking will be available again. Bad customer service by not being pro active. |

Sun. Feb. 10th, 8:00. Able to sign in but not able to transfer funds from ANY accounts. Had to use the phone automated service. Went back to the site and did a live chat... they are aware of the technical. I am sooooo sick and tired of their outages. |
|
| Tommi Pryor · 10 February 2013 - 17:19 | |
OK it just let me in through back door SIGN-IN link accessed top right of screen after you click on Site Map at bottom of Home Page. This time it successfully sent me the Safe Code. I was able to do the transfer. But all these tech problems with BofA are shaking mny confidence with BofA. |
|
| Tommi Pryor · 10 February 2013 - 17:13 | |
So they close Customer Support at 3 pm PST on Sunday and you cannot phone anyone for help. Then they lock you out of your accounts and prevent you from transferring needed money from your own account to another of your own accounts. How about doing upgrades and maintenance work late nights when fewer customers will need access to THEIR money BofA??? |
|
| Tommi Pryor · 10 February 2013 - 17:08 | |
safepass is not working. It displays an error. I cannot get into my account using ANY link with Firefox browser, Safarie, IE or my phone. I was in it for a minute before it booted me out trying to transfer funds from one account to another and it would not do the funds transfer. Then it booted me out. Now I am locked out in every sense. |
|
| Brennan Fleetwood · 10 February 2013 - 17:03 | |
I cannot log in via standard means, it says "sign off successful" after entering password. However, Using the "backdoor" method posted during the last crash does at least let me view my account amounts. I can't get past that point though. When I click on the account to view details I get an error message and the acct info disappears. (multiple attempts) I'm worried about hacking and such now, this is happening too often. There's also the problems created by being locked out of your accounts when you need to do banking. IF the tools they give us regularly fail to their advantage, the issue becomes suspect. I'm not typically paranoid, but this is sending up red flags all over the place. |

The website has been back up for a couple of hours. Entering a fake user name & password DOES NOT WORK, nor are site keys stored in your cache. I do think B of A owes an explanation and apology to its customers! |

| Eric Salonga · 1 February 2013 - 18:25 | |
Mike Jones, I am a BofA customer and I went to the link https://www.bankofamerica.com/sitemap/hub/signin.go and entered in "butthead" as my username, which it is not my real username and a fake password and somehow might "site key" came up, I went to the site map and saw the same page I saw at the link posted, which is different from the BofA site, so I just sent out info of what happened to me... you FELL FREE to do what you want, I'm not promoting a site I am saying be wary after all it its YOUR account information |
|
| Mike Jones · 1 February 2013 - 18:10 | |
Eric are you a BofA customer? People that have been with BofA for a while should know that when you see your SITE KEY and your PASS-PHRASE, then the site IS legitimate. Site-map is not some "trick". It's always been part of the BofA page. No need to worry. I transferred some $$ and then verified it using my Android app. |
|
| Christie Will Ross · 1 February 2013 - 17:55 | |
Eric Salonga, I did speak to BoA and they were not aware of the link that's been posted here, however, you can get to this link through BoA's site (sitemap, Mobile & Text Banking under Online Banking, sign in). Someone just posted the direct link instead of making you work your way through the site. It appears their site is now fully functioning. |
|
| Hannah Sherman · 1 February 2013 - 17:20 | |
i was able to log in through the suggested path and do some banking. I then logged in through the mobile app and check my history. it seemed like everything went through as expected. |
|
| Eric Salonga · 1 February 2013 - 17:09 | |
I love how some people are using a site that other commenters are posting, but has anyone bothered to ask BofA if the https://www.bankofamerica.com/sitemap/hub/signin.go is a legitimate one or the go to the "site map" trick, It looks like a legitimate site with some differences, but if it was an alternative way to access you accounts, wouldn't BofA suggest it? Disregard my post but at least call BofA or go to a branch to see if the alternatives posted by non-BofA employees are legitimate or you can just be a victim.... just sayin |

I logged in just fine using the site map trick described by other above, Saw site key. Balances were correct. Everything looked normal. Was able to do online transfers & pay bills. Regarding the User above who said he was able to log-in using a fake name and password, I do not believe this. I tried that and the system immediately said it did not recognize my computer and displayed my identity "challenge questions". Also, your site key is never held in a cookie. I am confident that the link via site map is legitimate and secure. |

The site is DOWN do not do ANYTHING trying to get around the site, I tried the link that a lot of people are giving https://www.bankofamerica.com/sitemap/hub/signin.go and PUT IN A FAKE USERNAME AND PASSWORD and it came up with my site key, so it was probably using my cookies, I then cleared my cookies and tried the same username and password and got an error, I also tried the trick of going to BofA SITE MAP that MARK RYDER suggested and same thing, risk it if you want |
|
| Mark Ryder · 1 February 2013 - 14:41 | |
Just logged in with IE and Firefox. If you go to the "Site Map" page and click on the "Sign In" link at the upper right of the page then it works just fine. They have just shut down the main links to reduce traffic. |

down in CA, webpage access is fine but cannot log into account. |
|
| Mark Ryder · 1 February 2013 - 14:13 | |
I'm guessing that they have a major outage and just shutdown access to most users to free up resources for Point-of-sales transactions and other such critical tasks until they can get everything back online. The sign in page accessed from the "site map" page is very different and must not go through the main front door that they have shutdown. Clearly the system is working, it just may not be able to handle a normal load right now. |
|
| Lynn Crain · 1 February 2013 - 14:12 | |

i was worried about a phising scam also. we all should be. i found how to get to the sign in from the bank of america site. from the home screen choose the small business tab on the top. then next to the user name area the banking tab will drop down. then click on the online banking link and that page will have a sign in area on the right side of the screen. |

to those that say they can get around the sign on page by appearing to be a new customer. seriously, do you want to circumvent signing on to what might be a compromised site? |
|
| Mark Ryder · 1 February 2013 - 13:58 | |
Seriously folks. The link is legit and it works. If you are concerned with phishing (rightfully so) then do what I always do. Copy the link into a ascii text onli editor (ie. notepad on Windows) which will guarantee no hidden anything (though a text copy and paste should really be good enough). OR type it in yourself. It IS a legit https bankofamerica.com address. Unless the phishers have taken over a chunk of the BOA website? If so there are some other big problems and BOA should be warning everyone to just plain stay away and remove all possible remote access. |

The automated phone system is stating it's down too. I'm on hold with an apparent wait time of over 30 minutes to speak to customer service! I am now concerned that my account may have been compromised based on what another said since I accessed it using https://www.bankofamerica.com/sitemap/hub/signin.go. However, this site showed my correct site key, and I was able to actually get into my account. I didn't think phishing scams actually allowed access. |

After I was able to log in I noticed something new. In the Bill Pay area, my list of payees now includes a statement to "hide" the payee if I haven't made a bill pay to that payee in the last six months. Four or five of my payees had this statement. I think this is new so maybe they ARE updating their online banking and didn't expect such a big hiccup! |

Bank Of America reports they are "down for maintenance" and suggests they will be up in about 20 minutes. You report they are up, and only down for "me." |

Refik just shared this. It's the site for small business accounts with Bank of America. It worked for my personal account and enabled me to purchase a part for my computer before the sale expired. To make the purchase all i needed was to transfer money from my savings to my checking. (I made sure that my site key and associated imaged were correct before I actually trusted the site). If you need to do anything else, I can't promise that this will work. I can say that it is 100% a BoA site and it can be trusted. Here is the link: |

Former BofA internet tech support here. If we say "unexpected update, " it means we have no clue what happened. |

Back in the day, people waited on money all the time. It's amazing how things have changed. |
