We have tried pinging AOL website using our server and the website returned the above results. If aol.com is down for us too there is nothing you can do except waiting. Probably the server is overloaded, down or unreachable because of a network problem, outage or a website maintenance is in progress...

Can't Access AOL - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

No connection available to AOL using their 9.7 version. Using IE11, I can get to the Internet. Using Bing and Google, I find their search engines have links to AOL Mail, but those don't connect either. Despite this site saying it is up, my laptop says it is not.

Have had trouble accessing mail for a couple days now. AOL home page usually loads OK, but when you try to sign in to mail it just spins its wheels. If you try to sign in to AOL, sometimes it "takes" and sometimes it doesn't. When it does, it tells you how many unread emails you have, but the preview is unavailable. Then when you click on the mail icon 8/10 times it just spins its wheels. Trouble with all our browsers. Mail works fine on my phone via same router.

Having a horrible time...does not want to load on Firefox... takes 10 to 20 attempts. This has been going on for about month, end of June until today, July 9. Unacceptable and is forcing me to consider a switch after 20 years as a loyal AOL customer.

Logging on is still sporadic... can't have an email system this bad so after 20 year I may need to rethink my loyalty to AOL. Sure wish someone at AOL would read these comments. Diane Jordan Peterson · 23 June 2014 - 13:55

I have been having a horrible time with AOL for the past week, middle of June 2014. Same trouble with each of our three user names. Slow, will not load, sometime loads, sometimes does not... mostly not. It is an unacceptable service and needs immediate attention. I have been a loyal customer since 1995, but could not put up with much more of this nonsense without switching over to my gmail account for good. I can't believe there are not more June posts here.

I live in Victoria, B.C. Canada, my service provider is Shaw and I use Firefox for browsing.

May 16 - 17, 2014, West Tennessee. AOL Homepage isn't loading -- MOST of the time -- on my iMac OS X 10.6.8. It loads sometimes, but not most of the time. Other pages open fine: Google, Wiki, Amazon, Youtube, TWC -- just not the AOL Homepage. To get my aol mail, i Google AOL, then click mail. Fanny Parker · 16 May 2014 - 15:30
United States · Comcast Cable · Chrome 34.0 on Windows

I was having problems with my Comcast connection and had to turn the modem off and back on. That is when I started getting a blank page for AOL's main page. I got into my mail box by going to mail.aol.com thereby skipping the main page completely. I have also had the issue of getting errors when trying to open a piece of mail. Eventually I am able to but there is something really strange going on here. It doesn't have anything to do with US, it has everything to do with AOL but now I have to ask, why is COMCAST involved? I had to reboot everything twice to get back on the internet and it wasn't until I did that I was unable to access AOL's main page. It also sounds like everyone is getting the runaround. Hmmm

Yes, as of 11:07 AM on 5/16/2014, AOL is not functioning here in the Northwest. The main page doesn't even load. Looks like the issue is moving to certain locations over a period of days as not everyone is affected at the same time and some are able to access AOL but not access Mail or send.

Looks like AOL is down, but people, don't panic. Find something else to do. Use your telephone to call that person to communicate. Get a cup of coffee. Take a little walk. Charter in Rochester, MN not working. Public WiFi is fine

Edit: Should have said AOL on Charter is not working! Public WiFi at Applebee's works fine! MUST BE A CHARTER ISSUE!!! ??

Carol Davey · 11 April 2014 - 18:30

After reading these latest comments, I called Charter. They deny it being on their part. They have a monopoly in my area and no other choices for internet service. (Can't even get Hughes.net through our DirectTV "due to 'competition restrictions' we cannot provide you with email services at this time".)

Nancy Watters Marti · 11 April 2014 - 18:01

It's Charter. Our business account has been down off and on for a full week. They told us there was a server issue. Didn't have any problems at home though until today. Now I can't access email here either. It is totally charter and they really suck!

Tabitha Cruse Peterson · 11 April 2014 - 14:55
United States · Charter Communications

Just clld Charter and was told it was something internal with AOL server and Charter, and that they were working on fixing the issue, and does not have a time frame to when it would be resolved. But if you are using Charter WiFi on your phone, turn that off and use the 3G/4G Network to get your mail and sign into AOL.com website. That's the only way that i'm able to get my email. So its is a Charter/ AOL issue.

Juli Spohn-Stevens · 11 April 2014 - 14:25

Charter told me the same as they told David, not an issue here, not sure why it's happening. Usually will resolve itself. Still no AOL, waiting for an email that I have to respond to and am kind of stuck now.

P David Welch · 11 April 2014 - 13:52
·

I spoke to a real human at AOL in the last 15 minutes. I was told they are aware of this problem, that it is largely a Charter issue ONLY. They said whether on purpose or not Charter has some filter set that is blocking AOL. I believe the guy because this has happened before in the last 3-6 months. And although some Charter reps denied any reports, it was clear they were lying or the info was not being relayed to their tech people. Charter says it's AOL. AOL says it's Charter. Interestingly most of the people commenting mention Charter. I have been down for 14 hours.

Rosanne Fullington · 11 April 2014 - 12:11
·

Called Charter at 9:00 a.m. They said it is not a Charter issue. It is an AOL issue. It is now 5 hours later and still can't get onto AOL. I live in O'Fallon, MO. And, of course, if you are not a paying AOL customer, you can't talk to a human on AOL even just to ask the question if AOL is down and when it will be back up!I think I'll need to change to another provider. Is there a way to move about 200 addresses from AOL to Gmail without having to input each one by one ?

Juli Spohn-Stevens · 11 April 2014 - 11:43

I've had issues since this morning at 7am - have not been able to get onto AOL. Tech support at charter said they have no reports of any problems. Basically, have to hope AOL will return eventually.

I can get on AOL, but the news items won't move or open. Also, lately my AOL has been very slow... opening emails, moving from one thing to another, etc. Very slow.

Has anyone noticed how much AOL sucks now, nothing works, tech support cant fix anything, noone has any answers.I stopped paying them lst montyh and got a gmail account. Cant get email from other AOL users, features dont work. Think AOL is circling the bowl.

The problems started when AOL dropped IE as their pseudo browser and started using Google. Tech support person told me this. What I did on email was open a gmail account and had my mail from aol forwarded to it.You can do this from gmail. Id suggest that all paying customers rethink why they are paying for such crappy service.

Getting the following message when trying to get to AOL through Firefox: FORBIDDEN: You don't have permission to access /_cqr/login on this server.

When I try IE, I am told I need to reset my password because my account has been compromised. Probably had the same email address for at least 20 years, this has never happened.

Can not access www.aol.com either through firefox or internet explorer. Receive message "Connection to 2001:4b0:1668:3c06:1::1 failed." This has been happening since yesterday. First time this has ever happened on this computer.

Despite what this site says, AOL IS down... they just posted so on their AOL Mail facebook page: "We're so sorry to anyone unable to access their mail right now. Our team is working to fix the issue and get you back into your inbox as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and we'll let you know as soon as the problem is solved. We apologize for this frustrating inconvenience."

Yeah, we've had problems for about three weeks. Had a transmitter replaced on out satellite antenna this morning but still can't access AOL's home page. Overloaded, or just poor maintenance?

I'm in Pennsylvania and haven't been able to access aol.com for at least 3 days now. I'm dreading to see how much mail I have when it finally comes back online. AOL is the only website that isn't working for me. This isn't the first time this has happened, either. I've been with AOL since the early 1990s, and this is getting ridiculous.

I just spoke with a friend in the Bahamas... no emails are incoming or outgoing. My business suffered minor losses due to this infraction. Had they sent notification of ongoing issues I could understand. I will be leaving AOL also after 18 years. I still remember dial up. lol At least then my emails went through... sad.

Still having issues with AOL. Intermittent service and continued error messages. Never had this happen before and now it's been this way since 2/14/14. Is this a worker slow down since the announcement by their CEO?

I'm California. I've called twice today (2/13/14). Aol states that the ISPs are not allowing them on their systems (Charter, AT&T, etc.). Sounds like a retaliation or buyout!?! This is bad business for ALL of us who PAY!! Even though I have other options, we all STILL need access to our email!!! And taking off WIFI on an Android does not work!

The problem, I was told by AOL's helper, Jack, is between Charter and AOL. So if you access the Internet through Charter, that's the issue. Jack says it may take 24 hours... from last night??

I can't access AOL from work (ISP: xo communications). However, if I remote to my home system (ISP:TimeWarner/RoadRunner) I can access. XO is routed thru Virginia so issue may be ISPs in East Coast area.

From Corbett, Oregon: AOL has not worked since about 8:00 p.m. on February 12. I still have nothing - no homepage, no email access. It is now 10:41 a.m. PST on February 13.

AOL will not open using the AOL software TCP connection nor from the aol.com webpage since last night so it's been over 12 hours since I can access my account or email.

Edit: I forgot to mention this is 2-13-2014 12:30pm . I'm in IL and AOL software and web pagefrom any browser, Mac or PC, will not open . I've not been able to get on any aol service but have gotten some email thru on my smart phone.

Monrovia, CA AOL down since last night. Called AOL 800 number and they said they couldn't help and I should go on AOL Help on the computer. At least they could put a message that AOL isn't working so all of us would stop going on multiple computers and devices thinking it's our equipment. I agree with the above comment "they are linking it to the Obamacare web site. I thought maybe they were linking it to the NSA website?
