Can't Access AOL - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

If any AOL reps are following this thread, a simple note on your home page letting us know that you are at least making an effort to correct this inconvenience would be a HUGE boost for you! We are losing trust the longer you make us wait for some indication of your awareness on behalf of your PAYING customers---who have options.

I have 2 daughters and their kids aol accounts won't come up, one of them at all and the other is intermittent. I tried calling AOL and the tech support was not helpful and basically said the account didn't have recovery information/options and so now I am waiting on a supervisor to call me back. Just spoke to one of Obama's folks working at AOL and she confirmed to me, after much prodding, that yes, AOL was having mail issues. I assumed that since we have not been able to access emails sent or confirm those received since early this morning. When I asked her if they were having a problem, she said "yes we are" and then when I asked how long it would be before it is resolved "I don't know," Where do they find these customer reps? I agree with the comments already posted. Apart from the obvious frustration re not beingable to access email, (which in my case is extremely important as Im sure is the case for others too), no notification or acknowledgement from AOL is nothing short of incompetance and shows a total lack of regard for paying customers,I am seriously considering seeking a new service provider.
