We have tried pinging Amazon website using our server and the website returned the above results. If amazon.com is down for us too there is nothing you can do except waiting. Probably the server is overloaded, down or unreachable because of a network problem, outage or a website maintenance is in progress...

Can't Access Amazon - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

The following is a letter I sent to Amazon's customer service department, where I was promised via automated response that someone would read my email within 48 hours:

"Dear Amazon Customer Service:

"I understand that you've been experiencing problems with your search function. That was made clear at the top of the page.

"However, I want you to know how much this affects our business, and yours. We rely on child (and adult) safety when we visit amazon. That means that when our teenagers are searching for items on our behalf for our business, we don't expect search terms like, "turn here sign" when searching the merchant, "Velocity Signs", to return search results that include pornographic magazines within the top two results, complete with cover photos. As of this morning, I've instructed my family not to visit amazon again. We simply cannot take the chance that their minds will be assaulted with filth because you have a technical glitch. Some glitch.

"My wife and I will be monitoring what is happening with amazon via third party site watchers and I expect an answer to this issue to be sent to me, as I have taken the time to write to you about it. You owe me that much. Whether or not we continue to do business with amazon depends upon it.

"It may require us to cease doing business entirely in this manner, but the cost of diversifying into a non-internet sales oriented business pales in comparison with the cost of moral compromise and the damage that is done to our family, marriage and community.

"Thank you.

The site is active and lets you browse and add to basket, but when you get to the checkout it asks for your login details, and then won't accept them. I tried to reset my password (even though I know it was correct) and came up with an "Internal Error" message. I also have a kindle and when I try to buyna book it comes up with an "Order Processing" error message. When I rang the helpline I was told that there was no card saved to my amazon account and that's why I was unable to but books through my Kindle. There is a card saved on the account, for years!
