Probably the server is overloaded, down or unreachable because of a network problem, outage or a website maintenance is in progress...

Can't Access What CD - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Try alternative urls such as ssl.what.cd

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

Up at the moment>

As with all websites on the internet, we deal with denial of service attacks from time to time. This one has been rather nasty and resulted in some serious downtime for the site. We thank you for your patience as we work to battle this attack - our developers have been working non-stop.
In the war against DDoS, capacity is king - the way to outlast an attack is to have more resources available. We have deployed the services of CloudFlare, who provide far more bandwidth and filtering power than we could on our own. This will help protect the main site somewhat against further downtime, but is far from fool-proof. Unfortunately, it cannot protect our IRC network at all, which is also under considerable attack at this time. We are working to mitigate this attack as well.

You should expect some downtime on the site in the next few days while we clean up some residual damage and do some server house-keeping, as well as fend off further attacks to the best of our ability. We will try to keep both our Twitter and the topic of #what.cd-help up to date regarding the status.

@Otacksamma: I'm willing to admit that piracy is stealing, but we're probably the biggest music fans anyway :D I'd love to see artists to start make from record sales again (means better quality control too)

This is what Free Internet is today. What Anonymous can do to the Man, the Man can have Anonymous to do to You. The name of the game is to make the popular sites work so poorly, that seeders eventually will start to shun them. In this world it's: I'm underpayed and smart ass hell. Why don't I earn like the folks over att Google? You can. If You're willing to do the man's dirty work for him. How's that for a pre-teen w. a bot-net? Sadly it's been going this way for over a decade. "Free" versions of internet tools are offered. Users gather more and more round fewer and fewer waterholes until the very use of a tool is compromising in itself. Pretty soon providing torrent tracker will be the internet equivalent of broadcastin pirate radio during a Coup by the Pentagon. And who invented the Internet, and why? Well all be sitting ducks by then. But go on, worry 'bout Your interrupted downloads. I suggest You get upp off Your asses and tell the Man to STOP WATCHING US!! Because we're on to his masterplan by now.

Jim Lundquist · 2 January 2014 - 18:59

I tried ssl.what.cd, and it's telling me my password is wrong, and it isn't. The password reset via email isn't working either right now. I guess it doesn't matter too much, as the torrents aren't working either.

Nathaniel Sprague · 2 January 2014 - 18:52

you can get in to the site through ssl but the torrents don't respond still. Tried downloading something and utorrent didn't recognize it.

Sredni Vashtar · 2 January 2014 - 18:40

Yeah I just managed to log back into the site using ssl.what.cd as well.

Craig Nagy · 2 January 2014 - 18:19

What does that mean to be 'officially down'? I hope it doesn't mean long-term...

Update: logging in with SSL at the URL ssl.what.cd seems to work, surprisingly. Very strange.

Jim Lundquist · 2 January 2014 - 17:00
United States · AT&T U-verse

I had just downloaded a bunch of picks when it went down, and some of them are uploading, but nothing like they usually do, so I'm pretty sure no one is getting on the site. It might be some kind of attack, it's happened before.

Edit: On twitter they said site is officially down and interviews are closed. Tracker is up.

Craig Nagy · 2 January 2014 - 16:52
United States · Sprint

Starting to get torrent timeouts again too. I really wonder what the hell is going on? Some sort of attack? I'd think they would have warned us before-hand if there was going to be a massive planned down time for maintenance or something.

Jim Lundquist · 2 January 2014 - 16:36

Getting a lot of timeouts again on active torrents.

Sredni Vashtar · 2 January 2014 - 16:05

Jim Lundquist · 2 January 2014 - 15:20

Yep... no more timeouts for me either. Hopefully soon. I was right in the middle of getting the latest picks when it went down!

Craig Nagy · 2 January 2014 - 14:43

Well the tracker appears to be working again, no more timeouts. I bet the site will be up again soon.

Jim Lundquist · 2 January 2014 - 14:10
