Can't Access Site5 Web Hosting - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

Cannot access the main site5.com, nor backstage. However, my site is up. This is the second major outage I've had since I switched to them from Hostgator. I think I only had one major outage with them in several years. I think I'm switching back as soon as they are up and running.

John Pieters · 30 January 2014 - 18:02

I've emailed their customer service and got back an automated response, BTW. No news but at least it's a start. If they email with anything about maintenance or problems I'll add this.

OK, just got this: We had some DNS issues but my colleagues already resolved them. Then a links was added that wasn't live. They said to email if my site was still down; I have.

My site is down also, as well as site5 own site, their customer support is saying they are closed!!! This is unacceptable!

Sally Taylor · 2 June 2013 - 12:31
United Kingdom · BT

If that's the case, they should give customers warning.

Jim Jackson · 2 June 2013 - 12:26
United Kingdom · Virgin Media

My guess is they’re doing something (moving servers, etc)

Sally Taylor · 2 June 2013 - 12:14

My site5 sites are down and I can't access their website.

Jim Jackson · 2 June 2013 - 12:13
United Kingdom · Virgin Media

They have a bad habit of doing maintenance on Sunday without sending emails. I think they assume no one's working or noticing much on this day. My hope is it will come back soon, but they'd do better if they sent notices about this...
