Home service has been out for 8 hours. Tomorrow will be another run around trying to get some compensation since all of our business is with them. Cell phones were out for almost 6 hours. If anyone is stuck, you can always go to freephoneline.ca and download a FONGO app for your computer that will allow you to make phone calls out and in and give you a permanent phone number from Toronto---u can phone free all across Canada with it as well... i always have it as back up

I do understand Rick Keffer, and since we are getting personal, I too have an Aunt in palliative care, as well as a grandmother, which whom I am extremely close to and very concerned about. This is why it is always important to have a back up plan. A neighbor, a relative, facebook etc....I would hope that in an emergency people don't solely rely on any internet based company. The point of my message was not geared toward everyone, and I can understand in emergency situations how frustrating this could be. As I am currently sitting here waiting patiently to call my grandmother to ensure that she is ok. My phone service is with Eastlink, and even when Eastlink is down, my corded landline will still work. My message was with regards to people who base their livelihood on their cell phones. For example "Rogers better pay me back for the shift I lost because I did not get the call", well would it really make sense for there to be only one contact method if that shift was so important? Did Rogers guarantee that that call for that shift would come through without question? I assume they did not such thing, and I can assure you that Rogers is working their asses off right now to get this fixed. I don't like Rogers, and I don't work for Rogers, but I have worked for companies similar, and I know that mandatory overtime and taking calls from angry clients when you can't do so much as even bring up their account is not a fun job to have. I am really just trying to put myself in someone elses shoes. I have a Rogers phone, and I am getting text messages that my family needs me, and I have no way of contacting them, but I am not complaining about it because I know that this was not a planned outage and there is nothing I can do about it. I guess some people just need to vent in their own way. I just fee like standing up for the other team tonight I guess.

There have been intermittent times where there was no service available on my computer... but my phone signal absolutely sucks were i live.. .and you pay a premium price. its time for the government to deregulate the over rated prices and bring it down to a universal rate... maybe do it the same way the government proposes to reduce the car insurance rate 10 to 15 % over 2 years.

I love all the jerks getting mad at rogers because they are missing "on call" shifts. Seriously?!? It's a cell phone company, and primarily internet based. I am sure they did not plan to completely crash across Canada. If you have important calls that you know are supposed to come through, you should probably get a landline, with a cord and chill the f*** out. Rogers sucks most of the time, but other cell companies lose service all of the time too. I hope you get back the .15 cents an hour you are losing over it. I don't know why I feel the need to defend Rogers. I think it is more so the need to point out the idiots that think their life can revolve around a cell phone, and wont accept the fact that no matter who they are with, their service can and probably will crash at some point in time.
