We have tried pinging MyAnimeList website using our server and the website returned the above results. If myanimelist.net is down for us too there is nothing you can do except waiting. Probably the server is overloaded, down or unreachable because of a network problem, outage or a website maintenance is in progress...

Can't Access MyAnimeList - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

No need to panic, MAL users. Hummingbird.me is a great anime site with a friendly community. If you exported your MAL list, you can transfer it to your Hummingbird list. If not, well it will maybe take a couple of hours to remake your list. The site is very sexy and I highly recommend you guys try it for the time being. Don't forget to introduce yourself in the forums :)

Well, MAL isn't working again. If you're looking for a back-up, then try AniList ( http://anilist.co/ ). They can import your MAL list to their website, and also supports decimal ratings. There aren't many members at the moment, and it would be great if more of you could join, even if, just to back-up!

@Amphibrach
I dunno myself. You can go and ask the admins in the MAL IRC (irc.lc/rizon/myanimelist/) if that's their real account. But i'm pretty sure it's not fake.

Danny Mariano · 5 September 2013 - 16:07

Don't be afraid of losing your lists. There have been several comments from mods stating that the lists are fine, besides if you lose them, not all is lost, just use the wayback website and it's likely they'll have your list - perhaps not completely up to date but it's likely it'll be at least from the past 2-3 months.

For those who still want their list even when MAL is down you should get MAL updater after this little mess gets taken care of. Of course I can't update my list but the program keeps the list updated from the last time you logged in, so you can check it out even when MAL is down.

Sorry for what I wrote before, I really dont know if is it for sale or not, Im just very impacient and upset for the issue, thats all. But check the link, you can find even other sites right there. @Rino, SSJ Master is the hacker and Xinil is the creator of MAL, when SSJ Master hacked the last time, he changed the names of some anime into SSJ Master vs Xinil. And since this is his second time I guess, that's why it's "season 2".

Heh well damn, it was funny when he changed the anime names but this is a bit annoying. SSJMaster 2 | Xinil 0

Also, how the hell is he even doing this? If it's just a DoS attack, MAL would have him blocked in no time. But where would he get the people to do a DDoS attack? Maybe he spread some virus during the first hacking attempt that allows him to make people's computers spam MAL without them even knowing.

Wilson Lu · 4 September 2013 - 19:38
United States · Charter Communications

if its the ssjmaster guy i swear he/she needs to get a life. he/she gets banned from the site so as revenge he/she hacks it 2 twice in the span of 2 months.

Aaron Jensen · 4 September 2013 - 19:16

This is true but if they host their website then they can set their router only to allow a certain number of packets from a specific computer at a time. Using a botnet would get around this though. There are some things that can be done but when it comes to a DDOS, usually not much can be done.
