Can't Access Molten Wow - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

Update: We are making progress, but not as quickly as we would like. These internal problems should be dealt with soon, but it may be a few days before anyone may be able to play properly. We recommend taking a short break, focusing on school/work and relaxing with some fresh air.

Please understand that we are still working our hardest to get things done and we will update you with more information when we have the information to give.

Thank you for your patience and support.

The number of donors has greatly increased. What does Molten do with all that money? Seems like they're having more stability issues than they did before all the new donors forked over their money.

They always say there's a ddos attack when they're doing changes and constantly crashing the game. Every time they upgrade one area the rest of the game suffers, quests stop working, dungeons shut down, etc. At this point, little of the Cataclysm quests work, and practically no dungeons except the Cataclysm(in part) work. Of course, when you go to their website it always claims everything is working and the game is running fine, it shows thousands of people Online, etc, even when the game is down.

Ok, I spoke with a GM on Molten and they confirmed that the usage of CyberGhost or another VPN freeware, will bypass the issue (which is to do with IPs not connecting; as the server is up) and it does not violate any policies or rules. A massive and relatively new form of cyberattack aimed at a sole company is dragging large swaths of the global Internet down with it, interrupting services and causing traffic slowdowns across the world.

The attack — which some experts are calling the biggest in history — is aimed at Spamhaus, a anti-spam company based in Geneva and London that flags websites it considers bogus. Spamhaus sells its blacklists to Internet Service Providers, which often blocks the hosts flagged therein. According to experts, it's estimated to be responsible for blocking up to 80% of the global e-mail spam.

Spamhaus found itself at the business end of a colossal and specialized Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) onslaught soon after it recently added Cyberbunker, an online hosting service offering storage space to anything "except child p**n and anything related to terrorism, " to its blacklists, labeling it a spammer's haven — a characterization Cyberbunker rejects. Cyberbunker has not directly claimed responsibility for the attacks, but Sven Olaf Kamphuis, claiming to be a spokesman for Cyberbunker told the BBC that Spamhaus shouldn't be able to determine "what goes and does not go on the Internet".

Spamhaus, which has contracted with security firm CloudFlare to mitigate this attack, has been hit by more typical DDoS attacks plenty of times in the past. In such an attack, hackers use servers or botnets that they control to point large amounts of bogus traffic at a target in the hopes of knocking it offline. But this situation is different: Hackers are exploiting a known issue in the Domain Name System (DNS), which is a key element of the Internet's infrastructure, to hit Spamhaus with traffic from around the world. The scale of the attack is also unprecedented, clocking in at up to 300 gigabits per second — many times the size of average DDoS attacks.

The attack, then, has been clogging essential Internet infrastructure, which is why it's causing Internet services and users across the world to experience shutdowns or slowdowns. And while sole businesses can choose to temporarily shut down servers that are being used to carry out or being targeted by a DDoS attack, the DNS system cannot go offline without causing major disruptions to the global flow of Internet traffic — disruptions that would have significant consequences for the global economy.

We repeat, this DDoS attack is not a misdeed work of any private server and is not in power to be conducted by private servers. Please maintain common sense and disregard claims of the attack by many of empty private servers that struggle for attention. Each time such attacks happen many banned players and silly empty private servers take the claim to be the attacker. Many major websites, hosting providers and networks are currently affected by a global slowdown and outage caused by DDoS attacks and it could be an unintentional side-effect on us. Whether it is the case or not, we continue working on a long-term solution to mitigate this powerful attack and improve our resilience against similar attacks in future. Please maintain your patience, mature common sense and disregard silly things. Thank you.

vulturous claims by empty private especially those many empty ones that struggle to even exist). Please maintain common sense, remain educated on the subject and disregard silly claims or speculations. The strength of the attack is too powerful and is possibly related to a global issue

We are slowly but steadily making progress implementing our new dedicated mitigation system. We have no reasons to believe any other private server is behind this attack, so let's stop being aggressive and be awesome instead. Take a break or play something else and check back for updates as we continue. All data Of Molten - Wow won't be lost. 3:43: We haven not taken a minute of break since the attack had started and we are are all still working on implementing a long-term solution for all our servers to mitigate future specialized massive DoS attacks of this kind. This solution includes a setup and configuration of dedicated DDoS mitigation hardware to avoid downtimes from future attacks of this scale and sophistication. The attack has ended 4 hours ago, however servers will be brought back online only after they are configured and secure behind a dedicated hardware. This system is extremely expensive, yet vital to us and we are working toward the second day through exhaustion. Hopefully in several hours, we will be the first and by far the most resilient community to have a dedicated Anti-DDoS system deployed on all our servers. We will post updates as we progress.

Website is the last standing bastion with a dedicated Anti-DoS protection enabled. Considering the scale of the attack it may also go down occasionally. In computing, a denial-of-service attack (DoS attack) or distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS attack) is an attempt to make a machine or network resource unavailable to its intended users. Although the means to carry out, motives for, and targets of a DoS attack may vary, it generally consists of the efforts of one or more people to temporarily or indefinitely interrupt or suspend services of a host connected to the Internet.

Perpetrators of DoS attacks typically target sites or services hosted on high-profile web servers such as banks, credit card payment gateways, and even root nameservers. This technique has now seen extensive use in certain games, used by server owners, or disgruntled competitors on games such as Minecraft and League of Legends. The term is generally used relating to computer networks, but is not limited to this field; for example, it is also used in reference to CPU resource management.[1]

One common method of attack involves saturating the target machine with external communications requests, so much so that it cannot respond to legitimate traffic, or responds so slowly as to be rendered essentially unavailable. Such attacks usually lead to a server overload. In general terms, DoS attacks are implemented by either forcing the targeted computer(s) to reset, or consuming its resources so that it can no longer provide its intended service or obstructing the communication media between the intended users and the victim so that they can no longer communicate adequately.

Denial-of-service attacks are considered violations of the IAB's Internet proper use policy, and also violate the acceptable use policies of virtually all Internet service providers. They also commonly constitute violations of the laws of individual nations.
