Can't Access KeyBank - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

I hate this Key Bank website! It is down a lot, they know it because they have to keep fixing it, why can't they just make it right and get better, more stable servers to service their website? Bank of America just might be my solution.

All Key Bank sites are horribly designed, slow and full of bugs. In particular, the Rewards Site constantly logs you out, presents errors, etc. You would think a bank as large as Key Bank could get some talented computer people on their team

Misty Wallace · 8 June 2013 - 12:15

I haven't been able to lot on to my account for weeks. I've had to do all management through my mobile app.

Kath Wright · 3 May 2013 - 09:59

down here since last night... are they having hacker problems or are they upgrading or are they trying to get people to go into the bank... frustrating to say the least... one time i went into the bank and the staff didin't even know it was down and a comment of ohh was wondering why we had a lot of customers today...

Stuart Bertsch · 3 May 2013 - 03:55

Site is not down but is probably getting a DDOS attack (effectively down) -- it times out. I have gotten through only to get another time out in process. Several days now. They should put something on their website about current problems -- duh. I hate changing banks but this is a fine reason to change.

Patricia Dyer · 3 May 2013 - 03:41

I have been unable to access this site since April 30. I get a large payment at the beginning of the month and need to pay business bills. This has been my only complaint with Key since they bought my account from HSBC. (Except that it was also down in their branches one day when I needed to make a deposit for payroll.)

Venkat Ramanan · 3 May 2013 - 03:04

The site is not reachable as of 6:03 am EST May 3, 2013. This site has been frustrating me for the past couple of months or so.

Thomas Cleeves · 1 May 2013 - 09:22

The website is also down in Washington. My local branch said might be back up later today or tomorrow. No details however regarding the reason it is down.

Kristina Stoural · 1 May 2013 - 08:51

I was able to get on for a bit and actually paid some bills... now I can't get online again. I hope my bill pays actually went thru!!

Patrick Kunkel · 1 May 2013 - 08:03

It looks like this is a distributed denial of service (DDos) attack that has to do with that film a while back that was about Muhammad. They mention Key specifically on their website as a new target but they could be taking credit for someone else work. Seems pretty likely it's them.

Jessica Fox · 26 April 2013 - 07:33

Noreen Minney- O'Hern · 13 April 2013 - 05:15
· down 2nd day in a row! Customer service says check again in an hour. That was 24 hours ago. Can access via mobile app, just not via PC

Delight Banchero · 12 April 2013 - 10:43

I was able to get onto the site this morning (around 8:30) but it's down now.

Alice Harper · 2 April 2013 - 15:23

Geoff Williams · 24 September 2012 - 20:27

Been down for 2 days here customer service says they are aware of the problem for some customers, sounds like some kind of routing dns issue, because some folks have no problem.

Melissa Reeves Simmons · 24 September 2012 - 15:41

Down for me, too. I tried Safari and IE plus tried on my laptop. Not working. 3:41 PM PST

Susan See · 20 September 2012 - 07:41
