Browser Related Problems

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

Can't update. Been trying since 9am yesterday. Am currently 21st in line to speak to a rep. everytime they come back on to tell me my status the wait time is getting longer. Went from 33 minutes to currently 50 minutes wtf?

Update: Just talked to tech. turns out the problem was Internet explorer. Use mozilla firefox to go to Go Pro's site then everything works! beware if you dont already have Firefox, make sure you go directly to their site There are a lot of sites that offer firefox but they have add-ons. happy downloading!

I got all the way to check out and submitted and it's just saying, "loading" for 10 minutes now. a couple of times prior to reaching page I had to click "Back" because I got a message that the site was down for maintenance. On cyber monday at 11:30am CST?! I suspect a problem...

Just a reminder, you don't NEED the update for it to work. Just an SD card. And, you can google the user manual. That's what I did. Although disappointed, this shouldn't ruin your GoPro experience.

It seems to work in a browser for a minute and then stops working. Move to a new browser, get a little farther, and then that too stops working. Everything says the site is up but the page still wont load and I can't ping successfully.

You can use the wifi, press the wifi button and wait for it to blink blue periodically. Then after getting the APP, connect to the "wireless network" the camera creates. (GOPRO-XX...) it is a little finicky but I have it working and have not updated my camera yet. I agree though, you got a GOPRO! be happy!

Amazon cloud services had a big problem - took down Netflix yesterday - they may be having similar problems, could also be their hosting provider is having a problem with the traffic - from all the people trying to hit their site at the same time today. Regarding the online instructions - I'm all for it - who wants MORE paper in their packages?

The Cam will work and you can take and upload pix just fine. If you're trying to utilize any of the wifi features then you'll have to wait for the site to come back up for the update. I have taken DOZENS of pictures and atleast an hour or two of video with my family today. I love my GoPro.

I am however frustraited that I can't test the WiFi using my smartphone but I'm not about to return something that is this awesome just because of one glitch. It's not GoPro's fault, it's issues beyond their control. Hopfully you all can get that bunch straightened out from your panties and enjoy the bad ass gift you guys got.

Complain about it some more and make the person who got it for you feel like shit, you ungreatful bastards

Truly a disappointing experience the gopro turns out to be. I downloaded the iphone app days ago, still waiting for gopro website to catch a wakeup though. Saying the camera works "straight out of the box" is misleading. It doesn't work without an sd card and there is no sd card included. Also the idiot salespeople at cape union mart didnt say it needs an sd card or it won't work. The inventor should stick to being a surfer bum because he aint no product launch hero. Leave the big business to people who can pull it off.

Please note, you do not need to update your HERO3 to use it. The update unlocks some great features, like Wi-Fi, but the camera is still awesome and ready to rock straight out of the box. Your patience is appreciated.

Tried updating my firmware earlier this morning and neither the support page nor the firmware page would open. Tried later on and the support page was still down but the firmware page gave me a 502 error. Just tried again and I'm able to fill in my personal info to register, and sometimes able to get to the point where Java is detecting your camera. Not able to get any further though.

You'd think GoPro would anticipate that there would be this many people trying to update and prepare a bit. Right now all I've got is a $300 piece of plastic that flashes red and blue.

GoPro Support section is down. Got a new Hero 3 Black for Christmas, but can't use it. Pretty bad when they include a printed warning insisting you upgrade firmware before using, but they can't keep their site up. I hope the camera is more reliable.

The support section is not working. Tried opening the site in three different browsers. Chrome, Opera and Explorer. Although i got different results with all browsers, i always end up with 502 Bad gateway.

Don't know if this is a recurring problem as i've never visited this site, but this is kind of a critical time to have your site up and running. Specially since GoPro don't bother with giving you a user manual and you need to update your camera straight out of the pack.
