Probably the server is overloaded, down or unreachable because of a network problem, outage or a website maintenance is in progress...

Can't Access eBay - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

Can't get beyond page 1 of my Watch List. This seems to happen fairly randomly, but not infrequently. It is very very annoying indeed. What is the point of having a Watch List if it's inaccessible?

it was down because of a super mega rare extreme anti-chirstian brutal death metal audio compact disc on bid, and some pro hacker decided to make this one his CD, because only the original sounds great. some insane maniac wanted it, though I still have the rarest and most brutal here. (joke)

couldn't get into ebay all morning. signed in once, got log in screen, then nothing. happened to check my Paypal Account 30 minutes ago - and there was an UNAUTHORIZED purchase to OFFICE MAX for $230.05! called Paypal, they shut my card down. said another purchase attempt had also been made. card is right here in front of me, so this certainly LOOKS like it has something to do with ebay being hacked... i recommend everyone keep a CLOSE EYE on their Paypal account right now!!!! :-(

also if you click on customer support there is a little orange flag if you click read more it reads

We’re actively investigating a technical issue that is impacting eBay for some users. We understand that this issue has also resulted in some customers having difficulty contacting our customer service teams. We are working to fix the issue now and apologize for any inconvenience

seriously like your 145 million users are suppose to believe that SOME Have been affected this is a WORLD WIDE OUTAGE!! when you typed in ebay.com it was taking you to different sites or going directly to the sign in page!! really! again ebay calls being hacked into TECHNICAL issues.....JUST BE HONEST and come out and say you have been hacked and your personal information has been jeopardized!

again this is why we shouldnt take ebay or paypals customer services word

the supposed outage on sept 3rd was in fact a hack with Hugde amounts of DATA loss ebay admited it not till a week later!!!

http://mashable.com/2014/05/22/ebay-users-at-risk-after-cyberattack-change-passwords/

this article states even though ebay told all its 145 million members to change there passwords the hackers still had there database with all the members PERSONAL info......address phone #'s SSN all the good stuff and you cant CHANGE THOSE!!

trust me thats is what happen again this morning.....if you read posts below someone posted that he had a friend at ebay that confirmed that had been hacked into AGAIN and it was a world wide outage! and that they were in a HUGE panic over at ebay headquarters

Everything Collectibles · 14 September 2014 - 12:10
United States · CenturyLink · Chrome 37.0 on Windows

No this was a hack and the outage 2 weeks ago on sept 3rd was in fact a hack as well. ebay has been know to call hacks into there system technical difficulties....yeah okay ebay like we are going to really believe that its like pulling the wool over the sheeps eyes we all know ebay was hacked into now we need to know if our information was jeopardized esepecially the people that tried to log in this mronign when iit first happen i think a couple hours into this ebay shut down there login totaly so you couldnt log in but before that ebay memebers were trying to log in and it wouldnt let them but if you hit that button log in you sent that info to the hackers i feel sorry for them.....this is not a server problem if you type in ebay.com it should take you to the HOME page not directly to a SIGN IN PAGE first red flag it was hacked into also if you type in ebay.com it should not take you to a totaly diffrent website i posted below around 6 or 7 am on here what site it was taking me too, this was the second red flag that ebay had been hacked into. They were also hacked into last may! obviously they didnt do a good job of securing the website last may to have it happen again sept 3rd and again today!! i would definatly not sign in till ebay comes foward and acknowldeges that they had been hacked into and lets us know if any member personal info was jeopardized.

Does seem to be a DNS problem of some sort, but the odd thing is it's expressing itself differently on different computer and different browsers. With two computers connected to the modem via Ethernet, you can get to eBay's home page on one computer but not the other using Firefox, but the situation reverses itself using MSIE. And what's really, really odd is that the laptop, connected using WiFi, works like a charm.
