We have tried pinging eBay UK website using our server and the website returned the above results. If ebay.co.uk is down for us too there is nothing you can do except waiting. Probably the server is overloaded, down or unreachable because of a network problem, outage or a website maintenance is in progress...

Can't Access eBay UK - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

The problem is with BT servers, it's not ebay. Lots of websites are the same and everybody down seems to be on BT.

I live in Spain, both Ebay UK & .COM were down, my partner who lives in the UK could access both Ebays when i sent her the links, if the DNS is down, then it should be down for everybody as the DNS is what points the domain name to the file servers.

Andrew J Harrison · 19 May 2014 - 13:51

the guy who won your item will want it for £5.00. he will say his ebay wasn't down, you have no choice to sell or neg feedback etc

Daniel Briston · 19 May 2014 - 13:49
United Kingdom · Virgin Media · Firefox 29.0 on Windows

im sure ebay will have a get out clause in their terms and conditions, which mean, tough, you use our site, we cant gaurantee uptime, you may lose item you want to bid on, or lose money on items your selling when its down.

James Jordan · 19 May 2014 - 13:48
United Kingdom · Virgin Media · Chrome 34.0 on Windows

Gareth Pritchard it doesnt look like it, my soundbar sold for £5 when it should have gone for around £50, do i have to sell it now for £5 or can i bring it up with ebay to relist it or something? because that is so unfair

Pope-Family Buckinghamshire · 19 May 2014 - 13:48
United Kingdom · Virgin Media · Chrome 34.0 on Windows

Ebay is broken in more ways than just merely offline for a few minutes/ hours, eBay are hiding the fact they are hemorrhaging sellers out of their business at an alarming rate. DO NOT USE EBAY you saw it here first folks!

Gareth Pritchard · 19 May 2014 - 13:45

Bid early ?? Madness. Have 4 windows open in ebay . Have bids waiting for confirm. Go at 22, 16, 10 and 8 seconds and get it cheaper. bidding early is loved by ebay - not me

John Casingena · 19 May 2014 - 13:39

App is still working on Android phone / tablet so people can still bid And as fior the guy selling the soundbar the android app was still on so people could of bid and why wait to the last minutes to bid always bid you max price early to avoid disappointment

All I really care about at the moment as these things need to be packed and posted by tomorrow morning. Having the same problems - Invalid user id - trust EBAY to go down on the busiest online shopping day of the year... I can find my items for sale whilst not logged in, but if I click on then it tells me item no longer available. Can't get in touch with them as they have posted "we are making some changes we will be back soon" on their customer support page, what they really mean is "it's broken and we are running around like headless chickens looking for a fix, but we don't want to talk to you cos you are all going to be mad at us"...
