We have tried pinging Carbonite website using our server and the website returned the above results. If is down for us too there is nothing you can do except waiting. Probably the server is overloaded, down or unreachable because of a network problem, outage or a website maintenance is in progress...

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

getting an error message after a link appeared to update my carbonite today.,...I am getting the make sure the web adress http://localhost:668 is correct...I have restarted my PC numerous times., My carbonite logo is gone from my desktop & I now have 2 logos of carbonite set up with a logo looking like a piece of paper. Hi everyone! I just got out of a chat session with Carbonite. If any of you are noticing your mobile devices having difficulty completing backups, the problem is known, and on Carbonite's server side. They are aware of, and working on the issue presently.

Best course of action... wait. There is no need to do anything on your devices.

If you are generating lots of pics and need backup, I suggest an update your Google Photo account for 1 month, so that you can backup at full resolution. The Carbonite website does not seem to be affected, although it does feel more sluggish to me than usual today.

Carbonite server for my account has been down since July 4th. When contacted, they say it is down for "maintenance". Not for 5 days it isn't! crashed probably. I have no back-up for 400, 000 files now.

12/18 My PC crashed. 3 years with Carbonite, no problem, I said! Found out they didn't nearly upload all of my selected files in 3 years because of their fine print bandwidith limitation. Not nearly the only problem...I can't even download the 80 or so gigs due to their server going down or the zip files corrupting! On top of that, if I don't have it all downloaded in 30 days from the crash - they delete my files! This outfit is a real piece of work. Never, never, EVER again!

Carbonite has been saying waiting to connect to the backup server for over an hour. Event view shows loads of application errors starting an hour ago saying Faulting application name: carboniteservice.exe, version: Also shows Service Control Manager The CarboniteService service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 32 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service. But then when it tries to restart the service it has another error saying an instance of the service is already running.
