We have tried pinging 1&1 Hosting website using our server and the website returned the above results. If 1and1.com is down for us too there is nothing you can do except waiting. Probably the server is overloaded, down or unreachable because of a network problem, outage or a website maintenance is in progress...

Can't Access 1&1 Hosting - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Try alternative urls such as my.1and1.com, oneandone.com

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

Having Problems with Accessing 1and1.com?

I agree - unable to get into control panel (again!). All my dedicated servers okay but no hosting or mail settings.

New York here; been down since this morning as far as I know. Just got off the phone with 1and1, and they claim it's a VERIZON "re-routing" problem only. I am on Verizon (FiOs and wireless), so I can't get access to my site or 1and1 admin. Stats seem to indicate some people can access my website though.

Leo Cohen · 28 June 2014 - 10:07

1and1 is down yet again. Not sure how long; it was fine last night as of 8pm EST. But no joy when I woke up this morning around 8am EST. These constant and prolonged outages are beyond ridiculous! Of course, their stats page says "All systems operating normally" - which is suppose is true, seeing as "normal" for 1and1 is "extremely unreliable" these days.

Bruce Grant · 27 June 2014 - 12:44

Most frustrating company of all time. Even worse than the big telcos. Site and email down - now into second day and zero action/response from 1and1=0. I have bombarded 1and1 with communication, trying to shame them into action but nothing seems to work. It's time to finally move remaining servers away from these trolls.

I have a couple of business and professional shared accounts with 1&1. One of my server has been down for over a week now and have been calling every single day since then. So far the technical support has been useless and their admin totally uncapable to explain what happened, nor provide a work plan and an ETA to fix it. I have been asking to have access to a backup but so far they are keeping my data in hostage. I cannot understand how it is even possible for my server to be down that long with: "dual hosting and automated backup systyems". This is *VERY* disapointing and uncacceptable for a company pretending to offer a professional service and I will pull everything out asap !

Russell How · 16 June 2014 - 01:35
United Kingdom · BT · Firefox 29.0 on Windows

I've not been able to connect to my exchange account for 5 days now. No emails, contacts or calendar for my business and 1and 1 won't even pretend to care. They are literally ignoring any attempt to contact them and hanging up when I call. I can not fathom how this is legal or how they are in business. I am in the process of setting up a new host but will very likely lose 5 years worth of emails along with my calendar and contacts. I'm absolutely stunned.

I cannot work on my site from sunday (5 days!!!!) and actually i don't know when the webservice will work. How is possible???? Gateway timeout, Databases error and slow slow slow time of response. I'm loosing all my visitors for your problems. What is happening? How long I have to wait for having the services I paid for? 1and1 I hate you!!!

MHP Multimedia · 11 June 2014 - 13:25

I have 12 sites spread across five accounts and those clients are getting frustrated. All my sites are "up" but with real speed issues and multiple periods of downtime that has been ongoing for days now. I spoke to support and got the same, we know and we are working the issue. But like others I am frustrated they have not publicly posted any information. Although heavily invested I do have history with other similar shared hosting and have a plan to switch, I think they will get 24h more before I pull the plug. Until now 1and1 has been the best performing shared hosting group that I use, the other big names suck more. I know making money on shared hosting must be difficult, but I for one would pay more for a good quality of service. So 1and1 technical staff, make good speed, your jobs trully depend on this.

Curtis Oden · 11 June 2014 - 12:49

I'm getting database timeouts, maxed database connections, unresponsive gateways, etc. After several attempts, I got access to phpMyAdmin, downloaded one of my databases, and spun it back up on Amazon Web Services as an RDS instance. It got at least one site back up, creeping along, but it looks like there are still web server issues as well. I'm probably going to move everything over to AWS this month. I don't have time to deal with this idiocy.

My site has been down since this morning. This is completely unacceptable. I spoke with a customer service rep this morning who asked for my customer ID. When I went to give it to him, he put me on hold. After being on hold for 10 minutes they hung up on me. I wish I could grab the guy by the neck that put me on hold! After calling back I spoke with John (apparently all of their foreign CS agents are John) who told me their techs were working on it and it will be fixed but he could not give me a time frame. These guys are terrible and I will switching my site immediately.

This is absolutely ridiculous!!! I've hosted with IPower, Host Gator, Go Daddy and others, but I'VE NEVER had a technical issue drop a website for more than a few hours. It's been almost 2 days and I'm loosing traffic, customers and income! How long will it take before my SE rankings are impacted??? This is unacceptable... and the last time I'll use 1and1. I'm switching immediately!

We're having the same issue. Our main site has been down for 24h and all our other sites are intermittently down or slow. 1and1 is having a big issue with their mysql database connections. Many CMS sites databases are unreachable. This is a big problem for a lot of us. They're tech support has been talking to me about this and have acknowledged that this is happening.

We will be moving our sites most likely. This is too much.

It's June 11th, and my website has been down for the past 2 days. No responses from 1and1. They didn't even have the decency to put up a message somewhere that they are having issues. Very unprofessional. This is 14th time my website is down in the last 4 months.
When I write them, I get robo-email and they don't even seem to read what I write!!!
When I call, they make excuses and don't know anything. Hard to understand too as Their Filipino CS agents don't speak good English or know anything!!

Howard Kretz · 10 June 2014 - 17:32

Our sites been up and down for more than 24 hours. 1and1 sucks. We'll be moving our sites to another provider who has enough respect for their customers to have good fall back servers and provide good support. I hope this outage causes a mass exodus from 1and1. They deserve it for cutting corners and creating the risk and now failure that they have. Buh bye, 1and1.

There has been no http or ftp access to any of the websites hosted with 1and1 for the last 7.5 hours. There has been no reply to our email. They have a recorded message that says they're having problems, but there's no clue as to the nature of the problems nor when they're going to fix them. It is possible to access the hosting space through the WebSpace Explorer, though, which seems strange.

Scott Halligan · 10 June 2014 - 15:22

Last week, about June 3, my 1&1 Dual Advanced website started running extremely slow. Then I stared receiving MySQL Server Has Gone Away errors from my vBulletin CMS software. It has worsened to the point of near inaccessiblity at this point, and a MediaWiki I run is slowing down as well. Support is off-base, with ludicrous non-related suggestions and lack of response. And I just got done paying for 3 more years of service. Maybe Better Business Bureau time, I've about had it with these assclowns.

Mark Myers · 10 June 2014 - 13:38

1and1 could at least put up a message that it's their fault so my potential customers won't think I've closed up shop. My rackspace sites have never had a problem. Guess where I'll be moving my 1and1 site to.

1and1 is dead! It's amazing how they cannot solve this ASAP! I had hope this service might be OK, but look... two outages today!

I updated one of my WordPress sites, went away then came back and couldn't access the site. Tried all my other (Linux-hosted) sites and couldn't access. Checked FTP and all my sites/folders/files have disappeared. Called 1&1 who said only I could delete content.. why would I do that?! This is not the first time 1&1 have nearly given me a heart attack and am seriously considering moving elsewhere (but with 50+ sites that would be a nightmare). Am waiting for a response/restore from most recent backup.

Edit: Okay, 1&1 have now restored folders/files stating a 'known issue regarding the disappearance of our customers website files.' Talk about heart failure.

All my websites disappeared when I tried to upload new content to one of them. I don't understand how this works; the current status of 1&1 shows as fine...

all of my site is gone right now, second time in two weeks that some sort of error has happened. I imagine after a third incident I will explore new hosting options, but cant imagine how much time and or money it will cost to migrate all my content. oh well

1and1.com seems to be down. All our website don't work from 1 hour. http://www.metallirari.com. Why? What is happening?

1and1 webmail and control panel are back now, but my main email account appears to be blown away - as though it never existed. I've never had anything like this happen before. I do hope 1and1 takes responsibility and restores my account (the first person I spoke to this morning tried to suggest that I may have deleted my account somehow).

Alan Fletcher · 29 April 2013 - 12:51
United States · AT&T Internet Services

The login system seems to be busted. I have an active FTP link which is (currently) working, but new ftp and ssh attempts time out. Control panel comes up, shows three lines and hangs. Came up briefly with a full panel, then when I went to SQL admin it went down again with a server-unavailable error.

Of course, my customer left it to the last minute to switch to SQL5 and only told me yesterday! Don't panic ... still 35 hours of SQL4 to go !!

Al Neustadter · 29 April 2013 - 12:40

1and1 email is down for past 5 hours. Webmail is down as well. Customer Service confirms that there is a major issue going on right now but status.1and1.com shows all systems functional.

All of my sites were not responding for at least 5 hours today... they are still a bit sluggish

Al Bentley · 18 April 2013 - 08:11
United States · Comcast Cable

all my shared sites have been unreachable for a couple of hours, maybe longer, I just started to check, 1and1 support is blaming a firewall problem,
somehow all AT&T and Comcast access to sites is being blocked, admin panel is open but not sites, no estimate of repair time from support.

Nigel Robson · 18 April 2013 - 01:43

Checked a few sites through at start of day, then tried to login to joomla CMS and sites on my server no visible. Control check is to view a few sites on cell phone and all sites are good including real-time data. So I've been blocked for trying to use my own server CMS system.

I am continuously receiving this error! what can be the problem ??

No data received. Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data. Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

Eric Marchisin · 12 April 2013 - 17:22

mywebsite thru 1and1 is not responsive and support has no idea if there servers are up or down. You would think a web hosting company would know whether or not a server is up or down.

I also can't access any of my 80 sites, - no access, seriously slow and hacked off!!!! Any body interested in sharing a high end, secure, reliable dedicated server with leaseweb.com (europe) (fastest of the fastest), i'm only looking for people who are serious and want to have the best of the best. Need 10 people who are willing to commit to at least 100 euro's a month. Would also be good if anyone has experience in managing servers.

I have just received notification from 1and1 support that their IP addresses are being blocked by a number of ISP's.

They apologised and said they are working on a fix. I only discovered this issue after a number of clients complained to me they were getting thrown out of their CMS. 1and1 should have informed account admins in the first instance not stay quiet and wait for us to enquire.

It makes me mad that they haven't contacted everyone to say this is what they are doing. I can see my site via a proxy (e.g. http://www.hidemyass.com ) but can't access it directly over my wifi. I can on my phone via 3G but get blacklisted when I try to login to the CMS.

Mel Ruth Cruzado · 11 April 2013 - 11:28

I as well am locked out of my sites using my home wireless, I tried my cell wifi hotspot and could access the site but as soon as I tried to log into the admin page I got blocked. Now I can't even access the front end with my wifi hot spot. So as a previous com-mentor indicated they must be blacklisting ip's. bummerrrr..
