Can't Access WeatherBug - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Try alternative urls such as m.weatherbug.com

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

Weatherbug on my Android phone had not worked for the last three days. I recently installed a recommended "fix" on WB. WB site is active on phone (I get ads), but no local site readouts do, and I can't change locations.

I did a bit of research and found the answer to my question. It seems that it was supposed to fix security issues with flash player used with Internet Explorer and Windows Edge. It looks like today Microsoft came up with a patch to fix the patch See the following links for additional information - please copy and paste the urls below if interested

Update for Adobe Flash Player in Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge: January 5, 2016
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3133431

Albert, I looked and looked and could find only references to "more security needed" for the Flash player. However, when I found the problems with Weatherbug and with my email, I looked farther and found notations from microsoft saying that when the 'fix' was found for this latest update (the one we've now deleted), it would come out with a new number and therefore fix it again. I decided rather than lose all my mail, to delete that update and take my chances. I'll wait for the 'newer' one to come out. I also did the wushowhide program because I was going crazy every 3rd day having to re-remove that update. Hope this helps you :)

Albert Mizrahi · 6 January 2016 - 02:34
· · Firefox 43.0 on Windows

Thanks Jenny - I removed the specific update you mentioned in your post, and weatherbug works now. Just a question - you say that the update was for the flash player - was it supposed to be for a security risk being plugged? If it is so, and therefore a good thing, I would hope weatherbug and your e-mail program get updated to be able to work with the updated fhash player. Do you know what the update was supposed to fix?

Jenny Crouch · 6 January 2016 - 02:22

Reposting FIX FOR WEATHERBUG:
FOUND FIX: If you are on Windows 10, an update for the Flash player was automatic and it has caused havoc with WeatherBug and with Incredimail. You can remove that update and all will work ok again. The update was KB3132372 and you'll see it in the view updates section. When you remove it, it will come back in about 2-3 days, but I found on the microsoft page how to block that update so you won't have to remove it every time you turn around. It's a program from microsoft called wushowhide. Here is the link on the microsoft page where you can download it and follow instructions. Read that short article. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930

Mike and Tom, so glad you saw my post. I was losing my mind with my email and weatherbug and was lucky to figure out the answer. Hope you did that wushowhide program from microsoft so that the update doesn't keep fowling you up for days on end. NOW, if the people that keep posting their weatherbug problem would just read what I wrote, then they will be ok, too. Good site here. I'm glad I found it :D

Everytime I load weatherbug it goes off. Saying there is a problem. This is what is says. Weatherbug has stopped working a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

I'm having the exact same problem as the other people here, and I'm wondering if the crew at WeatherBug has died, or maybe they only went out of business.

I have uninstalled and re-installed WeatherBug several times in the past two days now... still, "has encountered a problem and needs to close" ... I miss it, but will probably look for something else. This has been days, and has happened in the past. Seems unreliable.

My Weatherbug is also having the issues of not working like everyone else is reporting. This is a recent development in the past couple days. I recently installed Windows 10. I wonder if that is the issue. I have been running Windows 10 for about a month now. It is funny that this problem just sprang up.

Weatherbug app on Windows 10 opens briefly, then disappears. Repeatedly. I've tried reboots, repairs, and reinstallations (after uninstallation and reboot). Nothing works. I'm about to give up.
