Can't Access TeamViewer - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

Doug Bell · 22 April 2014 - 18:47
Australia · Amnet IT Services Pty

To Aussies who can't get Teamviewer to log in or visit their website - it looks like it's a routing issue somewhere in Germany. My Telstra connection at home in Perth can't open the Teamviewer website but my work connection (using a different ISP) can.

A traceroute from home shows the path going from Perth to Sydney via Telstra then over to the US via telstraglobal.net before landing in Germany. After that, the path goes to a router at Deutsche Telekom where it stops.

Doing the same thing from my work, it takes a path from Perth to Sydney then over to the US and then on to Deutsche Telekom in Germany - but to a different router IP address from where the Telstra connection ends up. It then makes it past that router and on to Host Europe (who I'm guessing host the Teamviewer website).

So it looks like the fault isn't within Telstra, it's within Deutsche Telekom somewhere. There's probably not a lot that Telstra can do about that since it's not part of their network and not under their control. Hopefully the folks in Germany will fix the routing at some point and we'll get access to Teamviewer again...

Ok. The issue is with Telstra Bigpond, not with TeamViewer. TeamViewer.com is accessible, but only through an ISP that doesn't use Telstra. I've tried accessing it via mobile (Virgin & Allphones) and can get to it fine, but can't access the website using Bigpond.

Website works, but TeamViewer only shows "Activating TeamViewer" and then "Only LAN connections are possible". @ Dubai, UAE

i'm online and logged in - Germany 14:09 (+2) - looking how long it works now ;-)

and remote Connections really work ;-)

Dear Teamviewer Team. I'm also in IT Business. But what You did - to tell the Users nothing - is really a sh.. !!! Think about a better policy of Information !!!

Ok, looks like some are back. I can login to Teamviewer, but no access to some servers. I really hope they come back, because it's going to be hard to just have the servers restarted..

Erik Mühlfarth · 2 April 2014 - 04:34

still offline in Germany for at least two hours now - the Support doesn't tell anything...

Russell Watson · 2 April 2014 - 04:24

Seems to be working again in Germany. Sorry for the inconvenience everybody, I think I typed a wrong character - probably a high end UTF-16 glyph - into a settings field, causing the world servers to crash. ;-)

Edit: Correction: still down in Germany - I guess it was a cached connection I saw.

Niklas Svensson · 2 April 2014 - 04:05

Teamvier not working (Sweden). ping works 27ms to the servers and no packet loss.

Edit (+8mins) : Working fine in UK, West Midlands, on both BT and EE networks, I am just controlling equipment in Missouri, US - so no problems there as well

Here in Germany I can log on to my account again, but can't connect to anybody: I get an unexpected error when TeamViewer tries to get the route.

Guiseppe Madre · 2 April 2014 - 02:51
United States · Google Fiber

I can get to the website with no problem, but I can't sign into the client and it (naturally) won't allow me to connect to my remote PC. The status message on the client keeps toggling between "Activating Teamviewer" and "Not ready - please check your Internet connection" but never actually activates. Since I'm posting this on the same computer Teamviewer is running on, I'm pretty sure I've got a working connection - Teamviewer just can't see that for some reason.

Just to add, on their Twitter account, they are having issues on some parts of their network. Their engineers are looking into to it, they have no ETA.

Ditto.. Site loads, but nothing pertaining to accounts is pulling up for me nor are my machines online (the ones I can see in person, that is). Went down one by one and login.teamviewer.com is not getting beyond the login credentials.

I called Teamviewer and they said people have been calling about this from all over the country. They said it is not on their side but have isolated down to the Internet Service Provider. Specifically Time Warner. We use TW Telecom...Time Warner. Called TW Telecom, my ISP, and sure enough the first thing I hear is an automated message stating they are having a severe "peering" problem and are working to fix it.
