Can't Access Protopage - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

Anyone having trouble with opening links from widgets on Protopage. I can only do it by right clicking and chosing 'open in new tab'. The links bar at the top is not working at all.

Jeff Jones · 10 January 2016 - 20:38

Not able to open it in Chrome today.

I'm getting a demand for money to pay for secure http browsing. I think there is a hack, or Protopage simply decided to not tell people they are suddenly charging for services. To hell with them. I will go to yet another home made page-hosting site that doesn't charge.

Dave Metrix · 2 November 2015 - 20:38

It's saying up and ready on this site, but that's completely false. Protopage has written the following:

"Major US network outage
November 2nd, 2015

Major US network outage affecting 1000s of sites including Protopage. Repairs underway. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Update: Issue is due to a Severed North American optic fiber from one of the largest data centers in the world. Repair team is working on it, they’re updating us within the hour.

Update 2: Optic fiber repair team have not yet provided an ETA. We’re hoping all connectivity will be fully restored within 2hrs. All servers and data are 100% safe, this is purely a network connectivity issue. A very high capacity 600Gbit/s link has been severed."

Perry McDonald · 2 November 2015 - 19:57

Can't log in, I get the msg "protopage not avalible, timed out"

I think Protopage is down due to the outage across the U.S.

Sux, but c'est la vie I guess.
