Can't Access Blip - Troubleshooting Instructions

If the site is UP but you cant access the page, try one of the below solutions:

Browser Related Problems

Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favourite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)

Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser :

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system :

If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services.

Check our help page for step-by-step instructions on how to change your DNS.

I HATE this site. Even when it's up, half of the videos I want to watch give me that aggravating error "sorry, we're unable to play this episode". Why? Give me some information other than that. Is it a database error? Server issues? Browser incompatibility, WHAT?

video screens not even appearing. What do I do?

Trying to download a few of my episodes missing from YouTube and I keep getting the "Sorry, we're unable to play this Episode" line as well. And when I try directly downloading my video it's some HTML file instead of the original file I sent them about 2-3 years ago.

Blip videos of any kind say "Sorry, we're unable to play this video." am in Australia and have disabled adblocker.

blip appears to be down, I can access the site however I can't watch any videos from blip. Yet I can watch youtube videos just fine.

The Blip dashboard is inoperarable and there is no explanation. It appears that videos already posted still stream, but how to upload new ones? Any update as to what is happening?

New problem today (11/1/12)for Blip. "[10:03am EDT UPDATE] We have just received word that a there was a generator failure at our main video serving datacenter in NY approximately 45 minutes ago. While the site is up, videos will not play. We will post updates as we get them from the team." Posted on their Facebook page.

Videos worked yesterday, now the site is accessible but give the "Sorry, we are unable to play this episode at this time" message.

Gabe Leibowitz · 1 November 2012 - 06:26

The site itself is up, however none of the videos on it will load. They just stay on the loading icon and eventually give me a we're sorry, we cannot play this video at this time message.

From Blip: "We are currently experiencing unexpected downtime due to flood water in Manhattan affecting our colocation data center. We expect to be back up within the hour as the generators come online but may experience temporary outages through Friday." More information is on my live blog.

Update: Power has been restored and the site is back online. We might expect intermittent issues over the next few days. Kudos to the Blip.tv team for their great work. We home and trust everyone is okay, and that the damage is minimal.

To let folks know what is semi-happening, Blip.tv is headquartered in NYC, and got hit by hurricane Sandy. The massive power outages over the city are probably the cause of the downtime.

Live blogging what I find about the outage as I find it.. www.baldnerd.com/blip-is-down/

Been done for me all day. Must be a serious problem with their servers
